I'm tempted with one of the recent plethora of cheap A bars tha LR are offloading. Other than adding ~1 foot to an already long vehicle which SWMBO may object to, is their any effect on insurance

I doubt it, although you will have to tell your insurance company.
I'm with Land Rover insurance and all they care about is whether any performance enhancements have been carried out. I even had to explain what a winch was!!!

Ron, you've declared the a-bar and they haven't loaded your premium? I'm going to go f apeshit when I get into the office on Monday after they stung me for £120 for the Mantec plate. Think I may be pouring some coffee down the trousers of a couple of people.
For those not familiar with this tale, I'm currently doing some work for the insurance company RonP is with, and they insure my car too. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Maybe they don't like me?
They were certainly top third from my quotes - must be a post code thingy. Are they Royal & Sun Alliance or do they act as Broker for several companies? D3 HSE V8...

::frantically scribbling:: Ron P, near golf club.... What? Me? Get your premium loaded? No, in all seriousness I wouldn't be so daft. I'm just going to revisit the issue of protective items fitted to G4 vehicles being loaded by roughly 25% of my overall premium. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

My insurers said as long as the bits were OEM and and carried an LR Part no. No loading. I have winch, A-bar, underbody protection, raised air, ladder etc...
The only accessory I have to insure separately, as it would have affected the premium, is my HF/VHF/UHF radio, which I kinda expected. Seems they're a fickle bunch these insurance companies. D3 HSE V8...
