adding acccesories to dico 3 performance?

Hi guys,
I am thinking of ordering a warne bull bar and winch, fuel tank and kaymar bar for the disocvery 3. This will add around 70kgs to the front of the vehicle and around 110 kgs to the rear of the vehicle. the total new weight will be 180kgs. will this alter vehicle performance. Confused

thanks in advance for opinions
Rohan

Hello Rohan,

I have all of these and my answer is no.

The weight, including a full aux tank and two spares on the back, seems to add a little to the fuel consumtion; but no anywhere near as much as the roof rack I put on top.

Some here have complained of a lower front end, but I think there must be another issue there because mines been fine.

Off road ability - no difference at all!

Hi jamo,
Sorry for the trouble again. In Sri Lanka we have severe traffice issues, so sudden take off is necessary to overtake a vehicle is a must. Any lag in pickup after you installed the accessories?

No trouble, Rohan! Very Happy

I've not noticed any difference in power, although again, it's likely that the extra weight will have slowed things a little.

As to traffic, thouhg, I've already had a Holden Commodore (a 1500kg sedan) run into the back corner of the Kaymar bar. Smashed the bonnet and headlight of the Commodore. The only damage to the Kaybam bar was paint left by the car! So the extra steel enhances protection.

I'm in the process of obtaining a DPChip for my D3 to boost power. Remaps are not an option for me as I'm 720km from the nearest major city, in which there's no-one to do the remap anyway. The DPChip looks the goods and can be removed at any time.
 Have a nice day!
