Just used this to insure a car for a day tomorrow. All on line and an excellent quick and cheap service (well for the short period the insurance is required anyway).
If you extrapolate that out for the year though based on the day rate, that's £12.60/day * 365 days = £4,599 a year.... 
But  for a quick and simple service in an emergency.
