Detachable Tow Bar Recall
Had a letter last week, recalling all 2005-2013 D3/D4's for a Tow Bar Recall.
Booked in with Stafford Landrover For Today.
Good as gold swapped my tow bar as it had excessive wear for a new one! Cudn't believe it!
This is just to give u all a heads up that if ur tow bars got a lot of wear then book it in, I'm presuming LR must of had a tow bar pull out of the socket to do the recall!

Tow bar was checked yesterday. It passed and advisory note left in handbook in glove compartment and a yellow advisory doodah left attached by elastic to tow ball which was returned to its bag in the boot. This yellow thingy has IKEA style drawings on it and is downright convoluted but I suppose serves to remind of correct procedures.

Can someone point me in the right direction of any information regarding repairing a tow hook

I've asked that question and the answer appears to be no.
No parts of the internals are available as spares.

Took mine in to Farnell in Bury.
well what can i say the only thing i can say about the service i received was that the woman on reception knows how to push the coffee button and smile.
The service chap was as much use as a wet lettuce and a proper snob. yes i use it on a farm what has that got to do with anything? yes its full head to toe in mud and sand (Peterborough show off road track ) and??? its a land rover !!!! i don't think he has ever seen one with mud on it. they deferentially don't know how to wash it off. he told a customer he will have to wait a bit longer because mine was full of mud. the customer just looked at him and said its a land rover is he for real.
They had it 2 hours and put a little bit of wax grease in the socket moved my seat to the point where i couldn't even get in. I AM 6.4 YOU SHORT ASS NOT 3 FOOT LIKE YOU!!!! Then gave it the worst wash i have ever seen in my life my 2 year old can clean the Disco better than them.
what a wast of space!!
really good product dealers
The thing is it wouldn't take much to make it a million times better. Simple things like employ people that give a about what they are doing would be a start!

Not really impressed with my experience I have to say.
Took nearly an hour - car not washed - more bothered about flapping over customers buying new cars to care about porper like me.
Leaflet says tow upto 150kg only using removerable tow bar - so what about caravan etc what do i do then....SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Well, just got back from ours, similar story to smithie sadly.
Towbar fine, even fitted a new lock, so a plus there.
Sadly they then went onto the 'healthcheck' and it all went a bit downhill.
Offside tyre worn, horn not working, number plate bulb blown.
Nothing too dramatic there.....except.
Offside tyre fine, horn working fine, number plate indeed blown but no mention of the brake light bulb blown , the one I had observed not working all the way to the dealership.
Then when I get home I notice the spare wheel is swinging in the well, so I tighten the winch only to feel no resistance and a nasty clicking sound. I lower it, it drops a bit then I can't get it to come back up. Great, so they're broken the winch..the new winch I fitted only a month or so ago.
I phone back...let me check say the girl, I'll phone you back.
I miss the call so phone back...oh yes, theres a note here to say he noticed it wasn't working when he wound it up. Oh really, so why was there no mention of it when we picked it up? Bit convenient isn't it, after I tell you its broken you 'find' a note that says it is.
Overall, not at all convinced and am thinking of phoning LR direct to request another check as I've no confidence in what I've been told today.

You reminded me they did a healthcheck on mine and listed items and the price and fitting cost - no wonder it took nearly an hour. SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Mines due in tomorrow, we'll see how they get on there, I doubt they'll bother to empty my (full) boot to check the wheel winch.

I have just bought a D3 and there has been no mention of the tow hook from previous owner or any letter in the stack of paperwork. Can I just call the local dealer and have this dealt with?

Have had the letter for the old car
but not the one for the new car yet
Bri2398 welcome and yes any dealer can check your reg number to see if its an outstanding job, got a service coming up for ours and one dealer did advise the job was outstanding, will wait for it to go in for the service and it can be checked then.
