As far as I know it is still suspended for some reason (waiting on more crossmembers and towbars being manufactured Whistle ) but after speaking to LR, my friends car goes in next week for both a replacement crossmember & new fixed towbar in place of the removable one.

Fairly sure supply isn't the issue Wink

Seem to be an admin thing e.g. rewriting the whole service instruction

The SA was suspended around the 19th January, its now the 29th March, they seem to be taking a long time to rewrite the procedure for a simple measurement test Shocked

When you end up with 500 interpretations of how to carry it out then maybe Laughing

Wish it would get sorted only got mine looked at on 23rd march after waiting 4 wks to be confirmed its Censored .it took an hour as I waited for it.

That's after waiting 2wks for LRCS to get dealer to agree to look at it...

And 1 week after popping in to dealers and grabbing a Tec who just happened to be passing my discovery who with a look and a shake said don't tow its well Censored

Now waiting for LRCS to agree to works to be carried out ..

A good note it all be 4 weeks before they can get it done and back to me, thats after LRCS agree to it how ever long that will take.

Big Cry

There should only be one senior person from the engineering team at LR HQ, who decides what steps should be taken to determine if a towbar/crossmember is worn beyond acceptable limits, that person then decides how the SA should be worded. If the SA comes from LR then there shouldn't be any "interpretations" needed at dealership level, the work should be completed exactly as detailed in the SA Whistle

Or am I missing something Snigger

If the SA is written like the majority of the Land Rover accessory instruction manuals / pictograms, then I can see why there might be a few different interpretations Rolling Eyes

Well I guess there will naturally be the view that they are dragging their heels and there's little anyone can do or say to prevent that. The chance of purposeful avoidance of a resolution is I think a little fanciful though Smile

I don't think they are dragging their heels or deliberately avoiding the issue, I honestly think they have simply been overwhelmed by the sheer volume of affected vehicles. You yourself said right at the very beginning of this post, that Landrover did not anticipate there would be many vehicles affected, pretty much all the cars that I have heard about have needed both a new towbar and a replacement crossmember. How many crossmembers would LR keep in stock, not many I'm guessing, then once this SA got underway they were suddenly being swamped with orders from dealerships. That's only my opinion though Thumbs Up

[quoteThe anticipated failure rate for this campaign is very low, as a result, limited stock has been ordered. DO NOT order parts unless a vehicle has been booked in with signs of deterioration. Not all parts are required for all vehicles.[/quote]

Found the quote from page 1. Thumbs Up
