The only plus to getting the Golf would be the huge savings on maintenance and running costs. Man with no D3 anymore, but cant leave the forum....how sad.

Oh dear Miss Dizzy ...... been there, done that.
Moved out my D4 just over a year ago and got me a nice fast 'sports tourer' white body, graphite alloys, black roof.
Looked and drove the biz, fast and with great economy ......... but it wasn't a Land Rover ....... it was just a car!!
Got rid of it in Aug to get back in a Land Rover ...... sadly not a Disco but a FL2.
D4 was costing me way to much to run for my business (hence the car), but the FL2 though not quite as economical as the car, is way cheaper to run than the Disco.
Still rather be in a D4 though
Trust me Miss Dizzy ....... you'll be back !...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
< ‘tis but a mere scratch …….. it’ll polish out.

You can always put the GREEN OVAL on the front grill to remind you of what you are missing it might make your car drive better when the snow comes

Ha ha Robbie love that pic yeah there was lots of arguing ha ha but it's his turn to choose
RonP that's exactly it the running /servicing costs were getting silly so will keep this little for two years (whilst I pay off all the credit card the disco has accrued ) then trade in against something with the green oval badge again when it's my turn to choose

Make sure you stick around on the forum Dizzy so you are well placed to pounce on the next green oval.

And have a good laugh at our troubles. Besides, our standards are not very high. We let ronp back in.

See she is warming to it already!!
I have no doubt that we will be back in a LR in the not to distant future but for now the golf R will do us just fine, should be ok in the snow too as it's still 4x4.
And my god is it quick!!

Yes I am still breathing, hell I am beaming from ear to ear, not the Disco grin, I don't feel special in the golf R, the car is more the star of the show, I'm just glad i get to poke it with my right foot!
My brother in law has a LR dealership and I know what Donna will be picking, as soon as it becomes affordable in a year or two!
I really enjoyed my time with the disco, it swallowed all of my fishing gear well and accompanied me round some of the best lakes in the country but it was too adept at removing pound notes from my wallet
Glad we always had a warranty because we definitely used it!
Won't miss the horrible dread anytime the dash bongs at you with some message that you fear will cost you a kidney, but it was good looking down on people !!
Sat at disco axle height now, we could see right up your noses, probably.
