Seat sinking

My D4 XS drivers seat seems to be sinking. I pump it up ....and a few days later I have to redo it. Wonder if the hydraulic? cylinder is degassing or something. Anyone experienced this?

Good god the old D3 drivers seat sinking problem has come back after 8 years!
Caused a lot of angst for brand new Base 5 seat, Base 7 seat and S owners way back when....

A piece of wood wedged under the lever sorts it as I recall

I had mine MY12 seat base replaced under warranty for a modified design. Cured it instantly and it sat at a nicer angle

I recall a better fix being posted that used slightly broader elastomeric bands than fitted to the OEM internals.

Really? I'm interested. Mine drives me nuts still after nearly 3 years (and about 10 in total) of pumping up the seat as part of my daily ritual each morning!

If there is a fix - I'd really like it!!

That sinking feeling!

I also suffer with the dropping seat base issue, on my XS. I mentioned it on the first service and the dealer kept the car overnight for height drop checks-no fault found! What a surprise Rolling with laughter Stationary within the workshop with a static weight applied, I doubt if it would move, but take it up the road with a moveable weight on it, (acceleration, braking, cornering, uneven roads) the seat base certainly does lower!

The dealer did seem a little coy about the issue, but did admit that some Freelanders had suffered with this issue-funny that, it has been mentioned on numerous sites as a known Discovery 3/4 issue on manual height adjusted models Rolling Eyes

Not what you would expect on a car costing close to £50k, but I have not managed to find the time to return the car and have round two with the service manager! Other than this annoyance and a squeeky centre console lid, the car is fantastic, (as long as you ignore the fuel consumption figures Whistle )

I put my 6 month old TDV6 in for a health check today & also mentioned that the drivers seat constantly needs to re raised every couple of days. Anyway got a call from the dealer a few hours later, they confirmed that the seat was not staying at the same height and there is a TSB about this.

They will now replace the height adjuster mechanism and some bits & pieces on the seat base as well, once the ordered parts arrive.

It's nice to know that it wasn't my imagination that the seat wouldn't retain its height.

Cheers
