PM'd Bodsy and Geoff although not heard back. Anyone have any suggestions in who might be able to fit and activate the remote for timed climate in a MY14 HSE (already has TC, just no remote) in the Reading, Berkshire area.
It's chilly out there this morning.. Brr

Quick update, Bodsy dropped by on his tour of the area today, supplied and fitted the remote TC unit, aerial, plipper and enabled the lot. Lovely job and I'm now waiting for the first really cold morning so I can look smug wandering out to the car without freezing my doodahs off
Thanks Bodsy!

One for Robbie I guess, but having had a look at mine, I haven't got the island valve fitted. So how much would fitting one cost, where would you get one and is it worth it?
From what I understand from the posts, the island valve diverts the heated coolant from the FBH to the cabin heater matrix, rather than pumping round the engine circuit. I can see that it would warm the interior much better, but what happens at engine start? Without the valve, the cabin may not be as warm, but a warm engine starts easier and as you drive, you'd get heat from the engine much quicker as it wouldn't be starting from cold?D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

As you describe really. The only bit to add regarding the island valve is when the interior is warmed to the required temperature the valve starts to divert the flow around the engine; but with the limited runtime in this mode the effect is limited. The D4 engine does not really start any better for the heat and on the D3 the warm coolant made the start worse.
Fitting the valve and pipes as a DIY mod is popular in mainland Europe but I am only aware of one done in the UK. It does not look like a difficult job either. You can order the parts from any dealer or a forum sponsor such as Dan at Duckworths or Brad at Yeovil.
Kind of surprised and disappointed that the Lux does not have the valve as standard.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Thanks for the reply Robbie Having seen the pics you posted of your HSE, I'd have assumed that I've had the valve fitted on my Lux. It was a Jan 2013 build too!
I'll give Dan a bell and see what's required and what the costs are. Thanks again for your input - it's much appreciated D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

I ordered the remote timed climate as a factory option as it was cheaper than sourcing and fitting the bits myself.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I wonder then whether the 'Remote' bit is what got you the island valve? Mine has the 7 day Timed Climate, but didn't come with the radio remote.D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

That is my assumption.
Given the low price of the remote upgrade on an HSE it is a no-brainer to order it from the factory but on lower models the timed climate is a very expensive option.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
Another cold morning but still no TC. Tank 3/4 full, no battery warning lights, no TC message on the screen. All TC settings look correct.
So, given that my rear sensors aren't working, one door mirror doesn't de-mist and now TC not functioning, do I just give in and get someone to look at it all or do I buy a fault code reader and if so, which one?
Car went into the stealers last week for some bits and, while it was there, I asked them to check the timed climate. Their report has come back as "FFBH inop. Tech bulletin LTB00462 new glow plug and burner required. Part number LR031750".
They also checked the PDC as none of the rears were working...seems the FRONT right inner sensor needs replacing!!!!Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! I just bought a D4S, no touch screen. If I enable TC with a Nanocom is that all that is needed and control menu for timer will appear in instrument? Or is my only option to buy the remote kit with arial?

No control menu in the instrument cluster .. It only shows on the touch screen
Your only option is to fit antenna / receiver and key fob and do it remotelyG4 Gone ...but not forgotten
