HSE Alpine roof replacement

Anyone had to replace the rear alpine roof glass on an HSE!? What cost would we be looking at!? The disco I've viewed today has a bit of a crack which isn't leaking but it's not pretty....

Expensive.

Surprised the previous owner didn't get it fixed as its usually covered under the glass policy, just like a windscreen.

Expensive for sure!! Shocked

On my previous Freelander 2, 08 (in Mexico) the sunroof broke and don't no way, they told me: "There is not spare parts to fix it, we have to change all, it means sun roof and the full alpine glass roof" Shocked Big Cry Shocked

Budget was equivalent to 3800€ plus hand work Shocked I fix it for something around 380€

As Robbie has said you may be able to claim for it on your insurance policy as it is classed as a fixed glass, however, the previous owner may have not had it replaced as they were on back order from the factory a short while ago so he may not have been able to get a hold of one. You could check with Nick AKA TLO but according to This Post he is not back off holiday until the 28th Thumbs Up

There is no such thing as a rear alpine roof, the roof is all one from front (above windscreen) to rear, I have fitted one on a F2, it cost around £1250, straight forward job, not for the lighthearted and needs two people. Double check for any other roof damage, if there is any the car may be classed as a right off.

The Alpine roof doesn't run from the windscreen back, it starts at about the second row of seats

Well....

The dealer didn't notice it.... So if I do buy it it's certainly a haggling point. It appears to be a stone or something has hit it ASIs like a star crack close to the edge.

He thinks it could be covered by insurance. I'll make some enquiries. But yes, it starts around row 2 backwards as there is a standard sunroof on the front.

The car was blue. But the crack looked whiteish.... It didn't appear to leak anywhere so not a great issue, just doesn't look nice. Not sure how it would affect an MOT or the structural strength of the car like a windscreen does..... Question
