I stand to be corrected, I am thinking of the F2, it is about 2 years since I fitted it, in which case it is even easier and cheaper to fit, hardest job is removing the old one, it is imperative to use the correct adhesive and in the correct conditions, to keep costs down you could fit a S/H one. I still have the rear section off a F2 if anyone wants it FOC.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

HSE Glass Roof replacement

Hi
I have had my HSE 06 Glass roof replaced very recently. It was done in 3 days by a repair shop in the Reading area and the insurance company I’m with (battle in 1066) said it wasn’t covered as I did the damage and the total cost to me was £595. Not much info on the web about how to replace it apart from removing the head lining. Good Luck, push the dealer to drop it by £1000…. Don’t ask don’t get!!!

Cheers Alan, good to know. Well he has offered to drop the price by around £600 which does make it a viable option and now a very tempting car for the price... Will see what Nick/Craig from Yeovil say and I may just contact a few places round here too to see if anyone can do it.

Interesting! When I enquired with admiral they said it wasn't covered and I would have to make a full claim. It must depend on who you get at the end of the phone!

I called the glass replacement line, and they did have to refer it back to Admiral which took about a week, but they agreed without any questions....

When you report it to your insurers it is wise to clarify that it is not a "sunroof" in the open \ closing sense .... they normally exclude sunroofs for some reason. This is a fixed glass panel much like any other window Smile

I had a deal agreed to buy my last car all fully inspected looked good. I returned the next day with the cheque and luckily for me my son jumps in the back and looks up shattered apline roof in one corner. The seller decided to take to the city on a last trip and some Censored through something from a high rise when parked up. Mind you he said he hadnt noticed Rolling Eyes but that wa sthe only explaination
Long story short I managed to get a discount on the price of the car but windscreen price quoted was €725 plus fitting.
It got fixed 4 hours at autoglass Thumbs Up

Bit of a thread resurrection, but the info above was useful to me so I thought I'd add feedback.

I've just had my alpine roof replaced by Autoglass under my NFU policy with £50 excess.
They wanted the car at their local depot which seems fair enough on a big job and with thunderstorms about. I left it with them for 3hrs or so and all good again apart from a couple of small scratches I didn't spot on pickup, plus a loose roofrail.

Roof Glass

Hi,
I went down the insurance route and it cost me £600. My policy added the Vol and Comp excess and it came to £595...

Got the same cracked roof, after a long discussion with KGM I failed to get the roof replaced under glass cover, them stating exclusions clearly start sunroof and/or roof glass. Censored My response was there's a small hole in the headliner also and as its a full claim against me I would like that replaced also. They are going to inform me of their decision after inspection Thursday. Lucky my excess is only £100 and protected NCD, it's so irritating, complete cope out and I'm waiting for them to say the headliner isn't damaged enough or so other excuse.
