Your storage setup?

Hi all,

Well we've got another little one on the way and quite a few family things planned for this year so it looks like the 3rd row of seats is going to get used more.

This leaves me with a storage issue as normally stuff would go under the 3rd row.

Anyone got any clever setups for keeping things in without compromising too much space.

I was thinking perhaps a couple of Peli Cases positioned and tied down with things like the straps and jumpleads in etc.

I'm sure some organised people out there have some clever ideas that might be useful.

Alex

All my recovery kit lives in a smallish peli case, makes it easy to transfer to other wagons if needed. As for other bits you will be amazed how much room you have in the two storage areas above the wheel arches, I have full set of warm hi vid waterproofs, few rags, spare oil, tape few other bits. That is onside R/h is used for bottle jack, knuckle bar etc, loads of stash places if you look Thumbs Up
 So far Fiona has:
TRC front winch bumper / GG AT tyres
Warrior 9500s winch / Aux Fuel tank
Mantec sump guard / Kaymar rear bumper w/swing away
RI D2 light pair / de-cat exhaust
RI 10in flood/spot bar / LR puddle lights
Optima yellow top / Prospeed tree/rock sliders
Spilt charge system / Light guards

Well it is not really organised but I have some stuff lying in the 3rd row footwell in bags. Our 8yo sits there and does not need the leg space (in fact, she now has her feet supported by the stuff there) so she crawls over it and sits.

Also, I leave the center 2nd row seat in down position and the backrest folded down too. This is where the kids get to the 3rd row. I can then use the space under the 2nd row for some stuff too (emergency kit, towing rope).

When I need more space, first thing is to fold one of the 3rd row seats down and if more space required the three kids all sit in the 2nd row.

HTH,

Wiljo

Hi Alex,

I keep all my essentials (jump leads, recovery strop, shackles, oil and other bits and bobs) in a Gorilla Trunk. That way I can easily take it out to use the third row.

I was also looking on eBay for something that could stay in the car with the seats up and found there are a fair number of wide heavy duty canvas/carpet bags that would do the job. I simply searched eBay for "Landrover boot storage"

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies guys. I appreciate it.

Going to see if I can do something to organise it all a bit better this afternoon. Perhaps put the stuff in the cubbyholes in bags to separate it up and then get a couple of Pelicases to go in the boot and another on the floor of the 3rd row.

I'll post some pics up once I've come up with something.

I use a variety of "Lock & Lock" and "Really useful" boxes.

Some very small for thigs like spare bulbs, brake light switch & fuses, larger ones for winter kit, car fluids, tools etc.

After some research, I found the Vintec VT-32 perfect for our purposes.

With the 3rd row hidden, they store behind the 2nd row and don't waste much space. When I use the 3rd row, they fit perfectly behind the 3rd row seats.

Another advantage, from my point of view, is that they have the cover on top. I have some peli-cases for my foto and lightning equipment but when I have loose parts as shackles or recoverystraps, I prefer cases with the opening on top.

The VT-32 is lightweight but on the other hand you should not expect an impressive quality perception but for storage in the trunk of my Disco 4 I find them perfect.

Any ideas on how to utilise the space in the two side mouldings at the rear of the car. The ones at the side of the row three seats. Any one found a good method of fitting a net to them?

If I think the gaps you are talking about are the ones next to the removable panels for the tow bar storage and the jack storage then you can get nets that fix there?? I have some but not fitted them yet as i just foudn them one day. I could be wrong and the nets I have are for soemthing completely different Smile

Edit: Heath beat me to it Thumbs Up I have some so would quess they are OEM and you can buy the nets seperate?

PM'ed TLO regarding the nets.

Obviously Heath_DA has first dibs if there happens to only be one set available. I'll let you know the response if TLO doesn't post it first.

Sorry no numbers. Ahh I guess they were not on the 7 seaters (which I have) as you get slightly more thigh/ elbow room when sat in the back. I am going to fit mine when I get home as I don't use the rear seats very much but need the extra storage Thumbs Up

I have a dog guard and divider and the sid my dog has I will put all of her Censored in there for safe keeping Very Happy
