I've just got a couple of 50cm / 20" holdalls and cargo net - if the third row seats need to go up then they'll fit behind without problem.

All this talk of storage got me thinking that I could reorganise the back of my car.

This link appears to be about the biggest made for purpose car storage bag that will fit behind the 3rd row seats.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/BOOT-TRUNK-TIDY-OR...B004QX0IK4

All others I found of a similar size are effectively fabric boxes without lids.

I have just ordered one of these jumbo bags and I will let you know about the quality of the product and how well it fits with the seats up.

Regards

It is heavy at 6kg empty and has to sit in the boot next to the transK9 box to store most stuff, its a personal mortar storage box that I got from ebay for £20 very sturdy..

Do you think that "Personal Mortar" is going to trend on EBay ?

I know I searched for it. Laughing

Jumbo Trunk Organiser turned up today.

Very pleased. Very Happy

It fits nicely behind the third row of seats and hold everything I need it to. It sits on the rear lip and seat bars and stays in place as it has a firm base (think stiff card not metal).

It has Velcro on the base which does nothing at all as the carpet is not thick enough to grip.

Resurrecting this thread with a query. The tow bar storage cubby; is it safe to just dump stuff in there for storage or do I have to mod a container/support to keep things from squishing the wiring therein? We don't have a tow-bar storage doodah fitted as the tow bar stays in the garage unless I know I'm going to need it, in which case it's attached. There's heaps of space in there which could be used but I'm afraid of damaging wiring as it's like a telephone exchange in there! I'm thinking of light weight stuff and things that won't attract moisture in case of encouraging rust/corrosion. Would it be feasible to keep jump leads in there for example?

I keep - tow bar, jump leads, tow rope and 12v air compressor (Halfords) all in that side

In the "indent" next to that cubby I keep a first aid box that doesn't rattle around and it's held in there by the hatch bag

Other side just has the usual LR bits and pieces as access is restricted by my TransK9 box

could do with a photo of the nearside (towbar storage) area as mine is the same as previous post ie just a hole with all the wires for lights etc. I assume if you didn't spec the towbar from new you don't get the storage option in the left side. Wouldn't put my towbar in there as it might come through the panel on the 1st bend Shocked

SWMBO regularly has all 4 kids in the car. Tesco crate tied down used to suffice for odd bits on the flat boot space, that's bee replaced by a wolf box, emergency stuff in extra bungees in a small daypack hung on rear of 3rd row seat being used for easy access, other stuff under that in a just right size tool box. Anything extra is on the rack.
Hi Viz vests (6) in L/H/S cubby leaving the one next to seat free for the kds.
Always lash any bags etc in boot down just in case.
Have just cut a boot mat in half to protect the 1/2 of the load area used.
Hope that helps.

This is the very reason I nearly went for a new Mercedes GL when I changed my car 6 months ago. Let's hope LR offer a bit more boot space in the new D5 Thumbs Up

I use two Iso-Fix seats in the second row and the teenagers in the back .....

Fold down buggies fit nicely in the space behind the 3rd seats ...

3rd row charging outlet helps with the kids phone charging and the cubby's are great for keeping the kids stuff in .....

Narpy lent me his roof bars for holidays so we had plenty of space and find the D3 a god send for everything we need it for .... Mr. Green
