It had been leaking for a wee while and the Lucas stuff has been in for over a week now with no evidence of a leak. Fluid level has been maintained since. If you read the description of the fluid it brings seals etc back yo life and helps with lubrication.
The way I looked at it, what harm can there be in spending 16 quid before you fork out hundreds for a new rack & labour.
I was surprised by the outcome, steering is great and as I say no leaks.

Still not leaking yet, did another 30 or so miles yesterday so I've put the covers back on. One of the o-rings I took off had a large split down the side, whether it hadn't been put on carefully originally I don't know, I don't think it was caused by me taking it off.
If the stop leak works for you, then great. If the problem had been on the rack itself, I would probably have tried it myself, but for 2 x o-rings that cost pence and only take minutes to fit, I'd rather do that.
£156 in labour by the stealers to change them is excessive, now I know what I know, you only have to take the plastic side cover off to get at them (O/S wheel-arch) with the wheels on full lock .. At least they didn't charge for a full rack I suppose!
I appreciate all the help & suggestions, I hope this helps someone else out Discovery 4 - 3.0 - 2015
I'm no mechanic and would probably have done a lot more damage trying to do it myself...so £156 well spent IMO. That being said, I only paid £50 as WD paid the rest for me!!!Front Runner Rack, OEM Ladder & RAI, Tuff-Trek Foxwing, B'rakhah Ingonyama Expedition Trailer, RLD's Spare Wheel Protector, Bodsy's Bars, Empty Pockets! So I had a pre mot check done about 6 weeks ago and it failed on a leaking steering rack, the garage told me I needed a new rack, I mentioned this site and that I read that the seals might have gone and were really cheap, they said that it was much more than that and I needed a new rack.
I bought the seals from my local Land Rover dealer for £3.60, it took me 20 minutes to change them, cleaned everything up and took in for its MOT, it passed no problem, it has been a few weeks now and still no leaks (checked it this afternoon).
So yet again thank you to everyone who contributes and organises the site as you saved me ALOT of money.David

So, may need to do this after all.
What's involved in fitting the seals, anyone any photos of the process? I'm assuming process is the same for D3

Jack it up, remove drivers side wheel, remove small plastic cover (if it's on a D3), you will then be able to easily see the rack pipes, undo the nut and gently (very gently) move the pipes out and you will see the seals (two different sizes).
Replace the seals, redo the nut, and top up fluids, (use genuine steering fluid).

Thanks David. Mine was dripping away but with your picture I knew where to look. Cleaned everything up and then ran the engine and moved the steering. Sure enough fluid started to appear around the plate where the two pipes go in.
£3.50 to the dealers got me the two tiny O rings and less than 15 minutes had them fitted. One was indeed knackered.
Topped up with fluid and away we go. Been a week now, no further trouble.
So for once a cheap easy fix. If I get time I will write up all the other things that have been going wrong with it recently.

Glad the picture helped, but it was others on here that helped me originally, mine is still fine after 6 months and 6000 miles, not leaked a drop.David

This helped me too! I had to ask my local workshop to change the o-rings, because I did not have time to do it my self. But the workshop thanked me for guiding them
