What are the indents for?
Hello, I have always wondered since I got my discovery what the indent is for either side of the boot.
The indent I mean is the one between the rear seats and the access panel hole. It's quite a bit space, What can it be used for?

The earlier ones had side nets there so you could use them to store stuff.
I use then for the first aid kit plus a few other bits out of sight behind the hatch bag I have permanently in the boot.MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Is there a net or something that goes there then to hold things in?

Made a hinged blanking plate for the offside one to accommodate electrics for rear power supply, ie 12 way twin rail fuse box one 'live 'with car and one pemanent from aux battery, isolator and various switches/sockets/ C-TEC charge point & battery monitor etc. I ran the power supply from the from the front into the 'indent' as there is loads of space as you say. This worked for me as it is neat and accessible and is just one option.

The indents are there for passenger armrests when the rear seats are in use. I thought only 5 seaters had the nets but I could be wrong 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

My 2005 7-seater has these on both sides, with nets. I store 'stuff' there.

I was under the impression that the nets were only there for the 5 seater too, as it's a clearance dimple for limbs in the 7 seater.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I am not sure about that Martin...
when seated in the 3rd row, they're not long enough to provide space for your knees. You can put your hands in them if you're not too big, but not your elbows as the cubby box just above does not allow for elbow space.
I would say it is storage space only.

Fair enough, actually the nets make sense even with the 3rd row in place, strange 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
