How do I fit roof bars to my D3

I seem to have a problem. I want to fit cycle carriers to the roof of my D3. I therefore need roof bars of some make or other. The problem seems to be that my D3 only has two indented channels running the length of the roof with no means of fitting anything to them. Can anyone shed some light and perhaps a solution to my problem?

I see you have a 2007 GS which probably didn't come with roof rails fitted as standard. Instead, there will be some plastic-covered metal strips which run the full length of the roof from the tailgate to the windscreen.

So, you're going to need a pair of front-to-back rails that will replace part of the black trim on your roof. These are available in standard length and extended variants.

You're also going to need some bars which will go across the width of the D3. You can choose LR ones or any of the more well known brands here (Thule, for example). If you buy Thule, you will need the foot pack to go with it.

Roof bars sometimes come-up for sale on here. Roof rails do not.

Hope this helps.

Thanks man for the mega-quick reply. Am I right to assume that the roof rails fit onto whatever is below the four plastic grommets on each side?

Yes. There are some threaded nuts welded into the roof section under those. Thumbs Up

When you fit the front-to-rear rails, make sure you do not over-tighten the bolts. You will need to cut (with a hacksaw or similar) your existing trim.

Fitting instructions here:
