Just thinking looking at the quote figures you have, (nice looking mtr that Indus silver does look smart)
is it likely that you are going to be keeping it for 48 months. Getting on 7 years old then and if wanted warranty think it is about £1000 pa for top cover plus check to see if any penalties in contract if agrreement terminated early. D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Indus silver does look smart and easy to keep clean. Our D3 was in silver, I chose it as it was one of the original colours on the D3 launch cars back in 2004 - Zambezi silver? My wife prefers darks colours, ie Santorini black - looks great when highly polished and clean but a pig to keep looking smart. Maybe grey is the compromise!
On the warranty front, we never had much go wrong in the three years we had the D3, squealing EPB I seem to remember was the only big issue.
So what to do on the D4 front? Apart from chosing new or used and talking to Marshalls Military sales people, I think my biggest issue will be getting a decent price for my X5, being on the cusp of negative equity in the finance will be a challenge to getting an acceptable deal.

I saw that on the BASC website yesterday, but it doesn't explicitly say the amount of discount on Land Rovers.

The 13% Military discount applies to all factory fitted options and parts and comes with a full set of mats as standard along with the stuff required in Europe such as the warning triangle and spare bulb set. I know it is further to travel but give Westover in Salisbury a shout as they also do the military discount scheme along with Marshalls but might be in a position to give you a better deal on the trade in etc 2018 D5 3.0 HSE Lux

Boring and inaccurate.
No worse than any other car with same levels of complexity.
More enthusiastic communities online exacerbate noise around any issues that do exist.
For every owner with an issue there's probably 10,000 happily getting on with happy ownership.
Good to hear perhaps mine has finished falling to bits now then and 10 years of relatively trouble free motoring ahead. I find enthusiasts tend to overlook the faults and look forward to the next problem to tinker with rather than exacerbate noise. D4

Thanks, will do. My son is based at Blandford Camp, so Salisbury isn't too far off the beaten track for us.

They have been great for my last few cars and the trade-in values were on the money. Also if you are down there for a day or so they have a dedicated MY14 military HSE demonstrator so it should be available for a days play. Not decided on my next one but will going back to Westover sometime in the next 6 months. 2018 D5 3.0 HSE Lux

Thanks, I just emailed them and waiting a response. Ideally if the figures stack up I would take one by the end of July, but I suspect that there is no such thing as a stock car and they it would have to be a factory order.
I don't really need to drive one, we had a D3 and I drove an HSE D4 with the 8 speed box last year. It's the only car, apart from her Mini, that the wife has ever said she wants having loved the D3. It's also bigger and better in the boot for the three dogs, than the X5.

Land Rover military sometimes have available cars and also seem to arrive quicker than standard orders via a dealer so you never know!. They can be a little slow responding to e-mails but with a little gentle persuasion are very good so if you get no initial response try again, we always deal with James who has always done right by us. Good luck with it all. We have 3 dogs and there is no comparable car on the market for them 2018 D5 3.0 HSE Lux

Is the name of your contact James Bryant? I found that name on the Westover Land Rover website.

Thanks dazadd, I sent an email and spoke to James about an hour ago. He now has all the details he needs to try and come up with a compelling and attractive deal for me! I have a suspicion that the part exchange valuation on the X5 will become the sticking point!
Anyway, fingers crossed and I'll keep this thread updated on progress!

Bit of an update if I may.
Been in touch with Westover Land Rover Salisbury and James has been really excellent thus far. He has put together a deal for me on a MY15 SE Tech Disco 4 with metallic which includes the military discount. Thanks to dazadd for putting me in touch. The big disappointment is the part exchange value on my X5, which shouldn't come as a surprise I suppose! The p/x price on the X5 is even below the webuyanycar price which seems a little ludicrous and I am perplexed by this as it is probably a car which would be ripe for a BMW approved used car. This is the real sticking point now but hopeful that we can work something out. I think the D4 will be a factory order so I guess it would be in September at the earliest.
