D4 Coolant Loss
Hi All,
Driving on the motorways today, I certainly received a warning for low coolant. Initially, it felt like a strange occurrence as I recently checked the level and it was fine.
Anyway, when I got home, this is what I saw...
It seems that the engine cover has rubbed its way through the top hose!
Where best to get a replacement? I will have to do a DIY swap tomorrow if I could.
Thanks.D4 HSE all the way

I just to spoke to parts and this hose is 136 pounds! Really? For a short coolant hose? I find that amazing.
Anyone on here could assist? I am pretty much grounded until I get the hose replaced. D4 HSE all the way
I had to get this hose replaced a few weeks ago for the same reason although i caught it just before it rubbed right through. LR will sell you a complete hose set with thermostat housing for £100+. My indi got the hose on its own for £25 but im not sure where.

A quick update.
I had to sort out a temp measure. Using a hose extension piece, I had to cut the hose and clamp it both sides. It should hold for now until I get it replaced during the week.
I am not prepared to pay that amount of money for a small coolant hose. Its just not necessary.D4 HSE all the way

Strongly advise all check this
Just out of curiosity I went out to check mine today and it was showing signs of chafing.
I have wrapped mine with some self amalgamating tape to protect it which will be fine for now, I will monitor it and speak to LR as appropriate.TD4 Freelader ES

Hows about trying a company like Samco, and SFS who make hoses? See if it's any cheaper? Other then that you could try eBay, I would be sticking a metal jubilee clip around the area it rubbed too so it's rubbing on metal and not a weak hose!

Indeed. This is only a temp solution until I get another hose. Its holding fine for now, so I am back on the road.
I have seen several hoses on ebay for a D1, but looks very similar in shape and size, all for a price of a pint.
I wonder whether or not they are interchangeable.
With regards to rubbing, mine seem to have some sort of a sleeve. I wonder whether that is supposed to be there to protect it? I think mine only went yesterday due to the high ambient temps and the fact that I was cruising hard down the motorway.D4 HSE all the way

So, as I said, my friend is investigating this further back at JL. Can you all please confirm the year of your vehicle and if you have any photos of the hose position, please post.
His view is that the engine cover may have been placed incorrectly at some point, but he needs further information.
Thanks.D4 HSE all the way
