Addition of bumper mounted spots

Hi, About to get some spots added to my D3. I was wondering what others have done in terms of the switch in cabin. Is it best to utilise an existing swith or necessary to add a new mechanism? Many thanks

There is a genuine switch for the spot lights that fits to the left of the instrument panel somewhere. There is a picture on here somewhere. Do a search and you'll find it. Very Happy

The part number is XKB500080 and they WERE about £14

I'd recommend the switch, Thumbs Up

Its a really neat and tidy solution plus you get another button that glows up Green in the cabin when lights are on.

I've just fitted these and it's not as easy as I lead myself to believe looking at the pictures in the instructions ! Cutting two great holes in the top of the bumper isn't for the faint hearted either, but on the plus side I quite like the look of the OEM spots so I'm happy, the proper wiring kit is plug and play from one side of the interior to the other up under both footwells and up behind the switch.
The plugs are all there on the harness in situ you just have to locate them and connect into the loom beneath the battery tray and run the tubing down the wing to the front grille and hey presto !

The spots will need enabling to tell the car it has them fitted, and that's it.
I would go for the proper mounting kit too as it is also straightforward, even I managed to drill the holes in the right place on the inner steel bumper.
Oh by the end of it taking the front end off the car will be a 5 min job!

Worth it though I think, so yes go switch and do it all right first time.
Good luck.

So I've just picked up a soft a bar with the original driving spots mounted.

Does anyone know the part number for the wiring loom kit and switch?

I'd like to get them working even though reading through threads they're not that great.

I have the bumper mounted spots and xenon headlights.

To be honest the spots only really provide a small amount of 'fill in' illumination in the middle of the road, but I personally prefer the look of the front of the vehicle.

Don't forget they need to be enabled in the CCF once fitted.

I've read several times output isn't great... But I agree they look good and since they're on the ABar for free might as well use them.

I've tried several suppliers, they're all saying a similar thing, however there is a switch on fleabay.... Might just get that and fudge the bit in the middle like I did on my old 300 roof lights.....

This is where I mounted the switch. Comes on with the main beam.
