I am not sure if anyone is interested, but I didn't drive her yesterday, and today it was not until about 17:30. Same result - no error messages for me and driving fine.
I had planned to get some Wynns what-cha-me-call-it, but far too busy at work.

Not as good today. She started fine in the afternoon with no messages, but wouldn't pull away properly in first from the junction 10 metres down the road. I waited a bit, revv'd, etc and then drove successfully about 6 miles to collect SWMBO's BMW 320 with a failing egr! It didn't feel right on that journey though - I'd call it slightly rough running. However on the way back and two other journeys tonight and she drove normally again!
So how do you blank the egr on a 59 E91 320D please?

Mine did a similar problem.
LR dealer 1 said fuel filter. Changed and seemed to go away.
Came back and they said in tank fuel pump. I replaced the pump with a cheap £20 jobbie myself. Problem continued. Wife told me to stop being a tight and pay LR to fit a proper low pressure fuel pump - I did. They changed the filter again.
I changed the break sensor switch.
Came back with vengeance travelling down to the Channel Islands. Took it to LR dealer there who diagnosed failed EGR valves. By this point (I have a Faultmate) I suspected HP fuel pump and got one delivered to Guerney by Nick. They assured me it was EGR valves and replaced them both at great expense.
Seemed better, but travelling back up fault recurred. LR dealer 3 said that my front lower suspension arms were knackered and that was fooling my steering angle sensor. They replaced lower suspension arms and 4 tyres. Seemed better.
It then happened again. I got quite arsey and TOLD LR dealer 3 to do a leak test on the injectors. If that was OK I TOLD them to fit the HP fuel pump already in a box in the boot. The injectors were fine and they fitted the HP pump.
We are 10 months later and not a problem since.
The fault would clear if you cycle the ignition. Driving down to the Channel Islands I must have cycled the ignition well over 100 times. It was the most stressful drive of my life.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing your problem and how it was solved.
Mine played up a bit yesterday. She didn't feel right on the 8 mile trip to the stables and when I pulled out the yard after getting some feed, she did a quick limp mode thing. However the journey home was OK. In the afternoon I put a bottle of Wynns Extreme Diesel System Clean into the 20 litres of fuel in the tank. The evening journey was not quite right on the way there again, but as smooth as silk on the way back. Today she has mostly been really great, although one journey didn't feel quite right.
I should probably explain what I mean by the not quite right - the engine just feels a bit rough, but the roughness is evenly spread over the firing cycle and I think (?) all the power is still there. However when it's running properly, she is as smooth as silk and really fantastic - in fact it's like driving a different vehicle!
As put in my second bottle of Wynns with another 20 litres of diesel, I had a revelation. My D3 seems to have a fuel issue and my wife's BMW 320D has been losing power etc and claims to have a failing EGR. We both use the same fuel from the same pump at the same Shell garage! We have now decided to switch to BP ultimate and see if the vehicles 'recover'.
The verdict from my second opinion is that a new HP fuel pump is required, but they don't believe I need to replace the fuel pressure sensor and accompanying fuel rail.
What's the approx current cost to replace the HP fuel pump these days please? Thanks.

Get the pump from Nick @ Yeovil whilst you still can. That saved me about £100.
I believe the pressure sensor is built into the pump.

On an 08MY, the pressure sensor is in the end of the fuel rail, on the N/S of the engine. Next to the cam sensorMy D3 Build Thread

I had all the same symptoms. Stratstone "diagnosed" it for over three hours and then changed the fuel filter, no good. They wanted to change the injectors (even with a fault code indicating the HPFP), then the alternator went! I threw nearly a grand at it with Stratstone and then went to an independant. HPFP £1,200 fitted eighteen months ago and all good so far.

FWIW, some folks on here have fitted the OEM Siemens HPFPs from:
Roughly half the cost of the LR-boxed ones but I'm not sure if they are a direct like-for-like replacement or not.
I cannot vouch for this company - or the products they supply - but they look a fair bit cheaper than the equivalent item that comes in a LR branded box.
