Well that clears up the RHD/LHD argument nicely....but it also makes me even more thankful that no-one was seriously injured....although the upward angle may help,I cant help thinking of kids in a child seat in the back now......"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

As DG says it looks more central, a couple of inches to the O/S and it would have been very nasty

It looks like it deflected up off the bonnet first...from the bonnet marks it appears to have been initially heading directly to the passenger side......
Seems it may have been even luckier than first thought "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Similar thoughts to me - although the car was obviously still moving forward at the point of impact so there will have been a degree of lateral movement as well. What I can't work out is, given the apparent movement of the lamp post up the bonnet, how did it end up denting the roof? Might that have been the actual lamp assembley itself?Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

It could have been the top of the sign which is lying in front of the disco in the first picture. Its certainly consistent with the marks on the bonnet, maybe it was pushed upwards and came of the top of the pole when it hit the roof line leaving the main pole to travel straight through.Defender 90 CSW MY06

That lamp post must have scared the cr@p out of the driver. Lucky the driver saw it coming.

Reassuring to know that, should I be unfortunate enough to have a big accident in the Disco, none of it will go to waste.
I wish my xenons to be buried with me. Just so you vultures know!

Not to put a downer on the comments on here but the last picture just made me feel rather sick, i mean the others were bad enough but after seeing the angle which it went in started me thinking if that was my car, being LHD my 14 month old daughter sits right behind me in her maxi cosy seat which is high up, i think you can see what i am trying to say here.
Its easy to shout the blame on to the other car but do we really know why it hit the post, but i sit here asking myself is there really any car that is safe, i mean the D3 is pretty good but what are we supposed to drive, tanks 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)
