Stunted turn over on start up, then normal
I'm having an issue getting the D3 to start. Battery is about 2 years old. Last five (5) starts my D3 engine will turn over one (1) time then stop. Turning of the key again it starts right up, or it may take a 3rd attempt. I checked the battery voltage using the 753 code and while running it says 14+ volts. My D3 is 9 years and 9 months old and I'm still on the original starter motor and alternator. I did receive an HDC warning during the last start up which is consistent from what I've learned about low battery. Anyone else experience this?

Check all earth connections engine to frame, battery to frame etc
Then connect it to another car via jump leads - +ve to +ve but don't connect directly to the D3 Battery -ve as there is some fancy electricary on that terminal - connect to a good earth on the car.
If it comes to life properly then that points to the battery.
Same situation as you get on it's own battery would point to starter.

Sloss, thanks for the ideas. Only happened once since I posted this morning got a transmission fault and HDC fault on the dash after the engine failed to turn over. Will be checking the connections this weekend.16 D4 Landmark
