Now Iceland would be interesting but with no prices as far as I can see I suppose it's a case of if you have to ask how much you can't afford it Cheers Ian

I did the Tanzania thing last year - in a 4x4 with a driver. A couple of points:
- This is one place where you don't want to be driving - so much interesting stuff around (lion, elephant, buffalo, zebra ...) that you won't see if you're driving.
- All the safaris are done in 4x4s (Defender or Landcruiser) with a driver. The vehicles are typically old, beaten up. Why ? They get hammered, big time. 7k miles for a set of tyres. Much of the time spent driving on corrugated roads/tracks at 30mph+
- The key is a driver/guide who knows his stuff. They make the difference between lots of wildlife sightings and very few.
In summary, why the would I want to waste my time and money driving a new Disco here of all places ?

Oh, absolutely fantastic that they will go to China
in a year or two..
Then we can use the "new original"
Land Wind "evoke" to get around..
Taking my coat on the way out.....

HD, if you have time on your hands (retired?) and a like minded friend, (with a 4x4) iceland is very accessible, lots of fun to be had, all the interior routes are gravel, sand or mud, not too serious to expect to get stuck, but good enough to be great fun.
Well thats my 2016 holiday optiosn sorted!! Sat reading it at work and had to stop as i was getting too excited!
Now just need the Boks to win the RWC next year and all that planning will be worthit!Missplaced African

Speaking to someone at Land Rover only a few weeks ago this came up as what was being touted as a sort of extended "Expedition" only a few details were available then.
A week long trip to Botswana from the price and details I remember, with 2 drivers and allowing for food, insurance and other expenses, would get you a nice 10 plate D4 GS.

Trans’Oriental Maroc 2015
Trans’Oriental Maroc 2015
For those of you already with an appetite whetted and interested in adventure.....
A charity in Luxembourg is organising a trip to Morocco in April 2015 - to support the projects they are working on but also to have a lot of fun off-road as well.
More information here : http://raidsgo.lu/?page_id=384
It's in French because Christophe comes from the part of Belgium where they speak French. If there's a lot of interest I'll do the translations
Raid's Go! - translates "Let's go on an adventure"
The trip is 12 days/11 nights and costs €450 per person.
- For this price, you have to pay your own fuel, ferry, food, hotels etc. until you get to (and from) Morocco of course.
But once in Morocco you'll be well looked after!
Included are 2 nights in a hotel and 2 night camping and locally prepared food along the way!
For the rest of the time it's not expensive sleeping in the desert
If I get a lot of interest by pm I'll post more details (in Englsih).
