That is 75 degrees away from the hitch. ie as you look at the back; the sensor to the right of the hitch: Clock wise.
The sensor to the left of the hitch: Anticlockwise.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Thanks for the prompt reply. I managed to remove the sensors as per your description. I am sure all the D3 owners who have bought Mitchell Bros tow hitch will be very thankful for your assistance.

Another option to stop the sensors going of is to block off part of the sensor. I used a plastic protector cut in half. Now I can leave the hitch in without the sensors going off. But you must make sure there is no air gap between the sensor and plastic protector.

Some I think have used butyl tape as it absorbs the signal.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I've seen a silver D3 with one of these fitted a couple of times now on Warringah Rd. It looks like such a better design than the factory one. A real step forward, well done all. 8)

Disco3 sticker on the back and an ARB front bar?
Black painted hitch?

I have'nt had time to get a shorter hitch but noticed if I turned the original upside down it has a pretty good height.

Not me then.
I saw a silver one in Brookvale with roof rack and Tassie plates a couple of weeks back. No hitch at the time.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I"ve just ordered my hitch from Mitchells. Question - looking at the pic of the original tongue in the new hitch & seeing how far it sticks out. Instead of buying another one is there enough metal there to be able to cut it shorter and have a new hole drilled for the pin ?07 White TDV6 SE ,ARB bar & warn 9500 winch, Rhino aero racks, Thomas super pump compressor, duel batteries, Hella spotties, UHF. Mitchell Bros Tow Hitch, LED module (towing with LED taillights), General Grabber Tyres.
Yes a lot of metal to spare, as it shows in my picture the original square tube runs almost right through the new mount. I am tempted myself but wanted to keep the original for future fitting at sale in case I can afford another D3 in 3 or 4 years..
The only down side is the sloped mount. by getting a shorter 90 degree bent mount the trailer will come back quite a way to the bar and reduce the torque effect on the back of the vehicle.
Just a note about using the OEM hitch upside down.
If you need to fit a treg coupling (like me) then it won't fit upside down because of the web in the hitch interfering with the coupling. So make sure you think about this before you get the hitch cut and redrilled.

Towing Hitch
Hi Aaron,
Since I started the this thread, it's about time I put my money where my mouth is - trouble has been - too busy to get around to it!!!!
I'd like to place an order for a hitch - do I need to do that via separate email and what's your preferred payment method?
Cheers,
