Multiple fault messages - was "Its About Time...."

I’ve been lurking around on this forum now for a little while, reading posts and gaining as much knowledge as I could before I bought my Discovery.

I picked it up this week, an Automatic, 07, HSE. I’m over the moon!

I didn’t want my first post to be about a problem, but unfortunately it is!

Everything is fine when I’m driving, it all works… I can raise and lower the suspension at my will and fiddle with the Terrain Response until my hearts content.

The problem comes as soon as I switch on the lights.

I get a message warning me of a transmission fault. The vehicle lowers itself and I loose control of the Terrain Response. No matter what speed I go, the suspension does not raise back to standard height!?

I get three amber lights:

1 – Brake Systems
2 – Suspension System
3 – Dynamic Stability Control

On the 4x4 info screen I also get a symbol telling me the Hill Decent Control has a problem!

When I switch the ignition off, and then start up again, as long as the lights aren’t switched to On/Auto, the vehicle is back to normal!

So as long as I only ever off road in the daylight, I’ll be fine!

I’m also concerned too about driving in the lowered position!

If anybody could offer some advice it will be much appreciated… Let’s hope it turns out to be a simple fix!

Thanks in advance.

Jay

I hope it is as simple as that! Very Happy

Do you recommend just going out and buying all new (Decent) rear break bulbs?

Jay, do as the chaps suggest and change your brake light bulbs for decent quality OEM bulbs even if they look to be working fine. Brake light bulbs have caused all the symptoms you list when defective and is a well documented potential problem on the forum. In fact, just remove them and check to see if the problem disappears before replacing them. Wink
If that doesn't resolve your problem, report back. Thumbs Up

If that doesn't do the trick you need to get your fault codes read chap.

Bizarrely in timing with your post a colleague was following me last week and almost rear ended me. He complained I had no brake lights other than the hi level one working...no messages on dash and I was dreading what it could be thinking it can't just be two brake light bulbs... Through the lenses they looked alright... Only took five minutes, changed them both and no further problems...it appears the brake light circuit weirdly throws up all sorts of problems or blows both bulbs!
