Hi,
I've owned my disco 3 4.4 now for 2.5 months and it's been a headache so far. It's an 06.
Last week the rear calipers seized, since been replaced.
On sat the vehicle brought up a fault saying 'transmission fault' I pulled over and stopped engine. On restarting the message disappeared and haven't seen it since.
This afternoon I was driving along and vehicle brought up an air suspension fault and it said that only normal suspension height available. I pulled over and stopped engine, on restarting the message disappeared.
Was at a friends house tonight and when I came out to car after an hour, the car started but the radio volume wouldn't work, phone wouldn't work on hands free, the radio display brought up a low power mode display. The sat nav has since turned off. Are these weird things linked?
Left scratching my head!!!

Thanks! Will have a check of that in morn. I'm getting Ferry from Belfast to Liverpool on Sat and driving down to a show in Stoneleigh in the beast.. I hope it's something simple and doesn't let me down on the trip.

What he said
Wrong voltage causes lots of warning lights and error messages!
Might be worth having alternator checked....

Thanks guys. Just to update went to garage today and had the alternator checked. It's working ok according to mechanic!!!! The battery voltage was 12v on the meter.
The normal suspension height only message appeared earlier again... Maybe I am unlucky enough to have a problem there too !
If you see a blue Disco 3 stopped along the m6 and an angry man out kicking it you will know who it is!!!!

Yes if it was 12.0V that's too low. It should be above 12.4V. You can start by bringing out the battery charger and give it a good long reconditioning charge
Also, check the voltage with the engine running... that will tell us whether the alternator is doing it's job Dennis

Defo sounds like battery issues we had very similar issues in ours (random error messages which go upon turning the car off and on again) just had to have mine changed and a reflash done as the alternator was running too high which knackered the battery

Without stating the obvious... is the only way to check battery voltage using a multimeter?

Had the car at the garage today and checked again. Battery was still reading 12v (battery was new one fitted when I bought car just over 2 months ago). When running the alternator was reading 13v ... Mechanic said that he thought it should be reading 14.5v or there a bouts so maybe points to alternator problem.
Now on reading the fault codes the mechanic said the code would point to a compressor problem. In relation to what we discussed earlier... Is this potentially related to the low voltage or is it another problem? I was quoted £1000 to fit new compressor??
I appreciate the help by the way as I am new to the world of discos. Owned a Freelander previously and sold it with 140,000 miles and in addition to regular services and oil changes I only had to replace 2 turbo hoses, one rear window regulator and one clutch master cylinder. In addition to that I've an ex military 90 and 'Snatch' both of which I can tinker at myself! Safe to say I can't do that with disco!

A battery at 12v is pretty well flat. I had all sorts of strange problems with mine when I first had it as the battery was low after standing at the dealers for weeks. A good charge did the trick. Your alternater should do better than13v though, but charge up the battery first, then check voltage after the engine has been running for 10mins or so.should then be about 14.4 v.

I have been having similar error messages and upon checking the voltage with engine running found it to be 11.6V!! Changed alternator and its back up to 13.53V and no error messages.
I'm still having the battery light on but will start my own thread to solve that. 2004 Disco 3 TDV6 SE

The alternator charge rate should be running at 13.5v approx when unloaded and 12.5v approx when loaded if its running over that you need a software update to bring it back in line

Same car and year as yours - totally agree with all above ref low bat level. I bought a new battery when I started to get all the usual "fault" messages HDC etc etc only to find that I had been using the D3 on relatively short runs and battery went down to 12.1V. When I got the new battery in and charged with my "good" charger ( up to 12.6 V) everything was 'tricky boo'. That was over a year ago and the 'old' battery still reads same as when I charged it out of the car after it's replacement -12.5V. Life always good with a Landy
