How Waterproof is a D3?
I have looked through 344 search results, but cannot find the answer to ......
....if the D3 was parked and a deep puddle formed around it (or a river flooded ) as far as say 6 inches above the bottom of the door, would the inside get wet? Do the door seals provide 'waterproof" or "water resistant" protection? I am trying to decide how far away from the hotel in the Thames valley that I park tomorrow night!
I could gain entry via the tailgate, so no need to worry about opening the door and letting the water in 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

The door seals aren't bad but I wouldn't trust them to keep a few inches of water out overnight.
A bit deeper than you're contemplating I know, but my first D3 filled up over the cubby box lid in half an hour or so when it was submerged in water to around halfway up the doors.Clive

Put the suspension in extended mode also, will give you a bit extra.
Sitting in water is quite a bit different to driving through it I would say.

I think the door seals (when new) are rated for a minimum of 30 mins before leaking. This if course very much depends on what condition your door seals are in.
Also don't forget the spare tyre winch access in the boot. Only has a cap covering it. It not sealed like the doors are. This WILL leak if under water very quickly.

I would say there's a big difference between passing through water than leaving it parked in it.

Forgive my ignorance but how do you force the car into Super Extended Play? I know it "reaches" for the bottom of a dip when it needs to but it would be jolly handy to force it. And does anyone consider that the wading depth is then over 700mm?
Cheers
