I have a squeak....
Hoping someone can shed some light on this before I attempt a garage and the prospect of a huge bill... Over the past week the rear near side suspension has developed a squeak when going over bumps. It can't be heard from inside but someone at work noticed it, and can be heard clearly with the rear passenger window down.
Last weekend I took a lane home which I'd not done in the D3 before but frequently did in my old D1. There's quote a few large steps which involve cross axles. Could this be the cause?
I'm hoping it's just a bush or some dirt or something. It doesn't sound like metal rubbing. But it's a bit wet to get out, clean it and take a proper look.

Most likely the suspension arm bushes or the ARB bushes.
Try the ARB bushes first as they are only cost a few quid and are easy to change.Duncan

If it's rear, it could be the upper and/or lower hub bushes. With the right tools, its only a 2hour job as side to change them both.Mark.

So, had this in the air today on a mates lift, squirted each bush one at a time, couldn't find the squeaky one... However, we could feel vibration/friction in the lower shock... My worst fears of something going wrong inside the airbag shock assembly appears to have come true. Any idea how much I should expect to pay for a new assembly and labour?300TDI Toy... Now gone

I had this untill last week, The squeek itself was coming from the same corner as your's and it was the rear upper hub bush.
Easy enough to change but its a cammed bolt which set your camber, so will require alightment afterwards.
