Factory tyres?
I am hopefully taking delivery of my new D4 XS this week and don't know what tyres come on it as standard?
I am only curious as my wife is due our third child in two weeks and just in case there is a sudden snowfall, unlikely but it happened to us with our second... I was wondering if the tyres are all season or summer tyres? And when we do eventually get snow how capable are the OEM tyres?

I think that they come with goodyear wranglers ( they did when i got mine)as standard but you can ask for pirelli scorpions as no cost option.
I always found the scorpions fine in the snow but never had the wranglers on the car for long enough sorry i thats not much help.

OEM tyres are very capable in the snow, or to phrase it more accurately, the D3 is very capable in the snow on OEM tyres. As long as the driver does the right thing and doesn't think he and/or the car is invincible that is. Remember the most important part of the car is the nut behind the steering wheel.

Do a bit of searching on the site as views differ.
I would disagree that the Wranglers are good in winter, or rain, or snow, but they would make a decent enough child's swing. In my view they're crappy tyres. If its cold where you are, winter tyres are a safer bet.
I would wholly agree that the primary limiting factor is the nut behind the wheel, however. That's a great phrase.
And I didn't know you can specify a different tyre. I haven't seen that on the options list but will look again. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful.PAGODA
If you can brilliant.....you choose the colour & everything else...why not the tyres
have to agree that even with not so good tyres the D3 is awesome...If you haven't had any instruction from someone who knows or has the inclination or time to show you. At least read the manual.
if you are realistic & accept that you may have all the "go" its your "stop" that is always limited

Probably one of the hottest/most contentious topics amongst different owners - we all have our favourite!
If you're getting a new vehicle I think you should be getting a 'free' introductory session with LandRover Experience - once you have seen what the vehicle can do on standard tyres you'll realise that if conditions are too bad for you to make safe progress when your wife is in labour it is probably time for a medivac in any case! Cheers all.
It's certainly not snowdonia getting across to Macc hospital, but I have winters on my X5 as its as you would expect next to useless in the snow.
I will certainly be taking advantage of the free driving day with landrover as I can't say I am anything more than a complete novice at proper off road driving.
I will see what it turns up on as its not something I specified.

Del, I notice you managed to also get the famous Wheely Bin in that scene
I did Eastnor castle last year in A fresh downfall of snow, as the day wore on the white stuff gradually turned to Ice ! The D4 I was in had standard Good year road tyres on, I was astounded by the traction.
They were faultless off road in Sub Zero temps, I wouldn't hesitate at using them on road
We did half day in a D4 & half In a freelander in an attempt to get my mrs to have a freelander !
Although she was impressed she refused to have a freelander Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Well would be rude not to have it in the shot. Biggest problem with ith there was making sure SWMBO didn't put rubbish in it.

Looking to order my new car, I've just gone through the brochure. It is possible to order Pirelli Scorpions, but only on 20" wheels. There is no option, it seems, for 19" Scorpions, which is a shame.PAGODA
