Best Tyre advice please.
Hi, what recommendations has anyone for the best tyres, price is not the biggest issue, currently has Pirrelli Scorpions, don't go off road much if at all, I do tow a large Caravan now and then, thanks all Holly.
you can prepare yourself for the depths of winter & fit winter tyres (Vredestiens, Nokian, Michelein are known providers)...these can either be swapped out for summer use (you may elect to have a second set of wheels tyres)...
you could consider if you may or have to go off road - either occasionally or as a mud plugger...
towing a caravan maybe across a wet grass or muddy field may be something you have to consider
you could consider all the likelihood's & gets good 4x4 tyre that will do most of these - but not at extremes...this rules out Scorpions...they aint the best they have mediocre life & are problematical in the wet when over 20k miles
what have I got - I have used Vredestien Wintrac's for over 5 years (second set)...they stay on all year...handle the monsoon conditions we have in Yorkshire, go to the alps & handle anything white with aplomb, do motorways everyday.....simply superb.

I got Pirelli Scorpion Zeros all round last year, good tyre for road only use - I don't think there is anything much quieter in that class. Enough bite on them for wet grass but I would say the pattern is a little fragile and they are chewed in a few places from the odd bit of gravel roads I have done, will probably stop gunning it on gravel then

Goodyear wrangler Hp's. Mine handles the road well with these all weather tyres. I even go off road with these tyres. I've never been stopped with a puncture and I go over all types of terrain. They are always for sale on websites, auction sites so you can shop about for prices. I would always recommend these because I've put mine through there paces and I'm happy with them.
Ive been thinking to get a set of Goodyear dura trac MT next. But I've been that impressed with the HP's. I'm thinking of sticking with.

I got over 45k miles out of my last set and changed them with 3ml still on them, good all round tyre.It can when others can't,

For me it is BFG ATs - below is after 45k miles.
However, not available on larger wheel sizes

That's the only problem with the bfg's. I like my wheels.

I lower my pressure to 31 psi and go places where others can't.

When I bought mine, it had a mix of scorpions and wranglers fitted. They were useless imho for off road and snow at lower tread levels.
I have Duratracs which are a fantastic tyre but I don't expect to get more than 35k from before I will change them. Currently done 15k in them. Fronts are at 8.6 and rears are at 10.4 so going to swap them round.
I may go for LTZ next time but I'm really impressed with what I have. They have superb mud and snow ability but wear out quicker due to the weight of the D3 according to reviews online. Lighter 4x4s get longer life from them.

I always lower my pressure only to 30 - 31psi off tarmac to get good grip and avoid tyre damage. I think it's crucial and have had no trouble at all and have never been stopped what ever the terrain. I would love to have some duratracs but I don't like to waste what I have on at the moment as they have coped with everything I've thrown at em. They are on 7mm front 6mm rear now. 35k would last me about 4 years.
