Temperature / gearbox problem D3 08 model |
|
I wonder if anyone can assist please. I have an intermittent fault occurring, typically after the 2nd start of the day. I'll be driving when the temperature gauge drops down and concurrently the gearbox seems to go haywire. The box doesn't change gears or changes intermittently. If I go to manual mode, the box operates normally. After 2 a 3 minutes of driving, the temperature gauge restores itself and the gearbox starts behaving.
My first thought was a battery problem, had the battery checked, it is 100%. Has anyone eerie cede anything similar?

Sounds like a faulty temperature sensor in the engine water circuit - I think it is easy to replace - lives i the pipework at the front ISTR - but different places for different MY's Mark.

Could also be the oil temp gauge located in the sump, had a very similar experience but my gearbox was not that bad, but the temp gauge did the same, replaced the water temp sender but problem still happened, then did the oil temp sender in the sump and has been fine since.
BTW you will lose a bit of oil so do it cold or have a oil change at the same time. 2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

Thanks Folks. The diagnostics are showing an intermittent fault with the oil temp sender so maybe it's that. Will replace and check.

An update on the problem, I had the sender replaced yesterday and so far have not had a recurrence of the problem, so I am cautiously optimistic.
Thanks for the advices and guidance. Now I just need to resolve me EPB problem and I'll be like a pig on poo!
Regards
Doug
