Hi,
I have just got problems with my tailgate lock on my 05 D3. Im not sure how to identify if its a electrical failure or if its the wire.
I know I can push both lock and unlock buttons inside the car for 3 seconds to open the tailgate. I had my wife try this repetedly while I was standing by the tailgate, but it didnt work. But suddenly it released.
I guess if it was the wire that had the fault, it would not open just suddenly?
What u guys think?
I would also be interested in fixing this myself, but in search on microcat, I have not found the parts I am looking for.
Could anyone of u share the partnumber I need for this? I guess I should replace the tailgate handle and the wire once Im doing this.
When I take off the tailgate trim, some clips would easily get broken, maybe smart to buy some of these too?
Thanks:)!

mine does it intermittently, usually if I unlock then leave it for 5 seconds it opens but it seems random whether it works or not.

Sounds like the actuator is getting weak replaced mine last year plenty of info on here just search tailgate failure it's a horrible job to get it apart but if you do I would replace both the lock mechanism and the actuator not too expensive partswise ask nick aka the large one for a parts price and do it before it fails in the shut position cos iit's double trouble if itdoes MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

Thanks for replies!
If its the actuator, is it then the partnumber LR017470 (with wire)? And do I need to order som clips for the door trim also? Maybe a smart thing to do.
I will also buy the upper tailgate door handle in case there is problems with the button aswell.
Partnumber FUG500010 - Actuator top tailgate, do I need this one?
Or what about partnumber CWC500020 - Latch Assy - Tailgate RH. And what is the different between the RH and LH? I cant even seem to find a LH on this part.
Since i will order these parts all the way to Norway, I want to doublecheck that I have all the things I need before starting to strip down the tailgate:).
Brit-car says the following: If its the lower tailgate, the partnumbers are FUG500120 (RH) and FUG500130 (LH). Is both needed or are there differences between RH or LH steering wheel vehicles?
