I used to think that too but have been using an air powered vacuum pump for probably 8-9 years, in the early days I actually tried taking the sump plug out and found nothing comming out. As it's so much easier and cleaner you are inclined to do it more often. 5W30 is so runny it comes out pretty quick.IID PRO

I found a piece of rubber that fitted over "the fat" tube on the oil extractor and fitted over the car extractor pipe. Both about the same diameter.
Thin tube on extractor has too low a flow rate from my experience.

Just done my first oil change using a vacuum extractor. Brilliant tool. While changing the filter I noticed a thin metal plate, almost like it was sprung, in the filter mount. I.e. The engine bit that the filter housing screws into. It was attached on one side with what looked like a pressed fitting but was loose on the other side. Should it be like that? I should have taken a picture but I only thought about that after I had reinstalled the filter.

The oil extractor pipe/tube go down to the lower point of the sump.
1. I measured with the IIDTool how mm of oil I had into the sump.
2. I extracted 5.9 liter
3. I filled in the new oil (5,9 liter)
4 after a while (start engine, short run parked the car and waited 30 mins) I checked the oil level with the IIDTool and the result it was the same as point 1.

This is something I want to get into myself.
Are people changing the Oil an extra time between the normal service schedule then? Mine is now 10k since my engine was replaced due to crank failure so approaching its first service in the plan.
Does this pump look right? any exact dimensions of the fitting to the extraction pipe in the car?

I've got the same unit. Makes oil changes so easy, I change mine 3 times a year regardless of mileage.

Am I right in saying the D3 doesn't have the extractor pipe though discogaz? I'm after finding out if it will connect to the pipe properly.
Looks like a rebrand of the Sealey TP65. I paid only a few quid more for the Sealey though they are probably made in the same factory. You will need to get an additional bit of pipe, I found some in my local hardware store. I used the additional bit of pipe to go over the oil extraction tube on the disco and over the oil hose supplied with the tool. I didn't use either of the two probes supplied with it. I only needed a short length to allow the extractor to sit on the ground and allow the hose to reach the car. Not sure if I have helped or not with that explanation... in summary, yes it's the right extractor but you will need an extra bit of hose

I'm using this one, cheeper but extract all the 5,9 liters in less than 3 minutes!!! effortlessly!!!

Correct, D3 doesn't have an extractor pipe but the pump being discussed uses a tube that will go down the dipstick pipe which routes to the bottom of the sump anyway so not an issue.
I give it a few pumps to get some suction in it and leave it for 5 minutes and it does the job.
Just went to change the oil in my D4 for the first time but non of my extraction tubes are thin enough. I've got the Sealey TP69 suction pump. The smallest pipe they seem to supply is 5.8mm it looks like the D4 needs a pipe less than 5mm?
Any suggestions (have googled/ spoken to Sealey but cant seem to find a simple solution).
