How i fixed my Webasto FBH
It would never start last year.
With my module and the WTT software i could see it was trying to start and failing every time.
I got an air line and whilst it was attempting to start blew air into the intake, it started !!
But the next time i tried on its own, same problem. Even after numerous fuel primes.
So after many nights of playing, whilst it was running (started with the airline) i made an adjustment to the CO2 setting. By increasing the setting, this increases the fan speed, with the fuel rate fixed, basically leaning out the fuel / air mixture. This in turn is replicating what the air line was doing to get it started.
The theory is that as they got older and start to get buildup in the burning chamber, the air flow is restricted slightly and this in turn make it hard for a flame to start, it needs a good airflow.
By adjusting the CO2 adjustment setting to 97 it has now been running consistently for 2 months.
Today i have reduced it back down to 92, it is burning very clean and i think with the consistent use recently it has burnt off some of the crap inside.

It does, i think you just have to click save from memory.

Did you use the diagnostics lead via the obd port? Or did you need to add a few wires to connect it to the FBH directly?

mine is 2005 and has the red wire going to the main connector, just cut that and connect to it. Then take 12 from battery, somewhere on the forum shows the 3x (+12v, -ve and the red w-bus) connections the OBD adaptor needs.

Some more information that may help others get their heaters started !!
Today i was fitting one of my controllers to a friends D3 and the heater refused to start.
We put the diagnostics on and the fault pointed at the fuel pump. A quick look and it was un-plugged under the car!
As soon as it was plugged back in the heater tried to start. But like my original post here, it wouldnt start.
It got to the point where you can hear it trying to ignite a flame and then it goes into cool-down / flame out.
I didnt have an airline....so i had an idea from when i was a scout. To get the fire going we just need to blow on it!!
So i pulled the air inlet hose off and just as you could hear it try to ignite, keep blowing hard directly into the inlet..... and it started right up !!!
Gave it a good long burn, it still didnt want to start first time after, so tweaked the CO2 a bit and seems to be starting ok now. In a few weeks i will go back and put the CO2 back to its original and see how it runs.
I dont recommend anyone plays with the CO2 setting too much, you can only change it when the heater is running at full load. If you screw up the setting and cant get it to start again, you have no chance or reverting to the original setting !!!

I had a similar dilemma with mine but it did start without the blow job yet it ran quite smokey so once up to full speed I tweaked the co2 fan speed right up to give it a really hot burn and then turned it down a few notches.
I've left it set higher than I found it and it does run well once running but still smokes like the flying Scotsman at first
Not sure where to go with it now to stop the smoke but at least it's 100% reliable

Just looked back through my posts and seems the last time I used WTT was the end of Nov.
it's been 99.9% reliable since then but still smokes a lot

tried a blow of air into the intake (15l/min through a 5mm bore pipe) just as the burner started to fire, 2 starts out of 2 try's so far
will give it a few more try's and then might try altering the co2 setting.
If anyone is running the WTT doing any diagnostics can you have a look at the Combustion Air Fan %reading please ?
When mine is running on full load it is showing 83% and has a CO2 reading of 8F how does this compare
1 step left is 8E and still 83%
if I click it 1 step right its 90, then 91 which gives 84% and 92 gives 85%
I managed to click somewhere on the panel that pops up to alter the setting and it went to something like "A5" and the fan went straight to 94% after a quick panic and oh moment I clicked the left button to get it back down to 8F and the fan slowed about the same rate as my heart did
so if anyone has any figures to compare these to please and is it worth doing a new post just to log these values

The C02 value is stored in Hex value. for this comparison its easiest to convert to decimal numbers to see the difference.
My heater was set to 92 Hex = 146 decimal
Another i tested was set to 98 Hex = 152 decimal
Your 8F Hex = 143 decimal
Fan speed was around 85% for the 98 Hex one i tested last.
All heaters will be different as the factory calibrate the controller to the heater.
I increased mine by 5, per the original post, then reduced it back down after a period of time.

Well blow me..... Bumping this, as it helped solve my non-starting FBH issue.
I gave mine a blow after getting 02h on the WTT software and lo! There was much combustion and smoking of excess fuel.
Once up to temp I took the CO2 value from 91 to 95 and touch wood it seems to be working ok for now. Shall strip it down and give a service once the warmer weather is here.
