Need a VAT registered garage (person?) for 105K service....

Hi all, I was hoping to get one of the nice guys on here to do the 105K service but after reading about some of the Disco 3 "problems" I have elected to get a Warranty Direct policy - which is great - but they insist that all servicing is done by someone who is VAT registered...so I may be back to the drawing board!

Anyone know of a way around this issue or alternatively a reliable (VAT reg) person or garage in the Warrington area? (happy to travel a bit)

I have rung around and the local garage (Landyman - St Helens) wants over a grand Crying or Very sad so that is out of the question and Stratstone in Bury want £744 all in (inc VAT)... anyone got any ideas or recommendations?

Anyone used Stratstone?

Thanks in advance.

A1 Land Rover Bury or Stratstones do an offer of £599. I got the belt part of the 105,000 mile service done at Stratstones Bury for £399 as I didnt need the service part.

As Numpty has already stated, Stratstone are offering the FULL 105k service for £599 (INC VAT) or £399 (again, inc VAT) for just the belts. Click on the 'sponsors' heading at the top of the forum pages and then scroll down to the Stratstones adverts - one of these is for the service offers.

Struggle to see why they are quoting £744 (well, not really given recent experiences with maindealerships) but they may be worth a call if you cannot find a good VAT registered indie Thumbs Up

You are a star! Amazing what clicking in the right place can do.... found all the details and it seems a reasonable deal but I really do not know why they have just (today) quoted £744?

Anyway - problem solved - thankyou so much.

I will PM flack to offer my apologies for messing him about with my original enquiry but the warranty states I need a VAT reg garage to do the service.

Thanks very much.

ps this is a great site with very helpful people. Thumbs Up

@farmerboy

No problem bud but you still have the problem that your vin number is one that falls in to the bracket for a new Oil pump casing and unless you tell them they will not change it...

Flack Thumbs Up

Thanks for that Flack - very much appreciated - I guess they can do it whilst they are in there? If I ask them to "fit the new oil pump casing" will they know what I am talking about? (because I don't!)....
...maybe I should PM this - not really sure about forum protocols yet but I will learn.

BUT get them to giove you a price for fitting it before leaving the car with them else they will probably try to recoup some of the service discount Thumbs Up

aaahhh right.... is it just a matter of undoing a few bolts and slapping the replacement cover on? Although the way things are going I guess it will need an alignment tool, special seal press, bolts made from a rare metal only available from a remote mine in Brasil, greased with sweat from a virgins thigh and powder coated with fairy dust... oh gloom....... please tell me it is only 3 bolts?

ps I had a grand total of 26 hours of pure joy with my new Landy - then I joined this forum and my hair has gone grey and I have developed a twitch ...

....wife is looking at me funny as I giggle nervously at the laptop......

Unfortunately it's quite a bit of extra labour still even with the cambelt off
Have a good look at what's covered by the warranty as it's not something that is part of service schedule but should be changed if you're keeping it for a while

It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things - it cost more than £100 to fill the tank so paying £200 extra for the peace of mind is well worth it Thumbs Up

You are absolutely right!

What I want for Christmas is "peace of mind"... but it is so expensive! Wink
