Les, the ATR's also have a 50,000 miles conditional warranty in the US. I had the same thoughts/concerns as you, but decided it was worth having a little stockpile in the shed, as the ATR is by far the best single tyre for my needs.
The Hankook's do look good and I look forward to reading/hearing more about them.
Blobby, delivery inc. in the price. I feel your pain. We'll just have to take comfort in the fact that Martin and others have got a bargain

I ordered 4 Goodyear Ultragrips from Tyreleader on Thursday 28 Nov and they arrived on Monday 2nd Dec. I was supplied with a tracking number about 24 hours after the order was placed. Would have preferred to source the tyres in the UK but can't fault the service or price from Tyreleader.

It's great to see you all supporting UK independents.
If we could buy as well as them in Europe maybe we could take a slice of the cake.
I personally try and support local business as much as I can.

I agree it's best to support local independents but I couldn't source the Goodyears here despite an extensive trawl via the internet and several phone calls to local independents. The nearest local independent quoted me a delivery date for the end of January. Only place I could find them was Tyreleader.
I'm a new Discovery owner so I'm trying to get up to speed spare parts suppliers and upgrades. As the Ultragrip is a LR recommended Winter Tyre I was surprised how difficult it was to get hold of them.

Andy, if I could get ATRs from you or another UK supplier I would. Went with ATRs just before Pirelli withdrew them from the UK
I'm sure you'd love me to buy a complete set of 4 of something but not viable at the moment 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Sign of the times I'm afraid Andy. The internet has brought the shop to everyone's living room.
People used to brag about how much something had cost them, now they brag about how much they've saved!!
Been self employed many years and tidying my lock up the other day came across paper work that showed we were charging more in the late 90's for new work than we are now Dread to think how much the over heads have gone up in that time. Luckily most of my contracts go back to before then so small increases over the years have kept me going. I don't envy anybody starting out in business these days.Discovery 4 HSE

Does anyone know why Pirrelli withdrew from the UK only.
As the 18's are still on sale and same pattern cannot think it was due regs.
It seems daft that this time of year getting winter or AT tyres becomes a nightmare, no stock.
Try in summer waiting for them to be made.
I have supported AJS and definatley not that local to them, perhaps I did wrong
Would suggest peoples needs are not being met by current practices of tyre manufacturers, which must hurt the independants more, when you need tyres you need them, so google of we go.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

The Bristol indie tyre dealer that I've used for 20 years (Venture tyres) are normally cheaper than the internet sites anyway.
Only ever bought 3 x 19" ATR's on the internet as can't get them from anywhere else in the UK, at least not a dealer local to me anyway, .

ATR's have also dropped in price at Oponeo and they currently have them in stock for £170 delivered.

Nope, had to chase them for a tracking number which shows it sat in a depot in Oldbury (but it's been out of there to another depot and then back)
In fairness it does appear to have been collected very quickly (from Holland) and over to the UK within 48 hours, but now DPD are sat on it 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
