Is your service indicator on? It will tell you on start up if it needs a service, shown as a countdown in either days or miles.
Yours at 16k miles in 19 months should have had its A service at 12 months, as your annual mileage is less than 16k. It should not be indicating that it needs a service for another 5 months in theory.

It was last serviced at just over 8000 miles in April of this year when it was 12 months old so guess that would be an interim service with just oil change or A service? Looking at the LR service sheet I assume that this service would be the 24 month one B. Think I need to phone and find out what is going to be done. With regard to the service interval reminder my D3 used to have this but I did not have any message in April or now for the D4.

It does have the service countdown, so you need to get the dealer to trace its history. If I were you though, I would not be expecting service until April 2014, or, in your case, if it turned 24,000 before then, as it would then be 16,000 since last service. Whatever, I think you need a B service next.
