I also ad the same issue 5 years ago,so dumped the swan neck and had a multi eight one fitted...no issues since

Could, but means routing the cable from below the Al-Ko hitch, up the side to attach above the hitch.

Kit arrived yesterday and fitted this morning. Used nylock nuts and fitted a hook for the brake away cable to one of the bolts. Well made and even when just nipped up I was unable to turn the locking handle, which was my original problem (could turn even when locked and loaded). So now there is no chance of the pin moving and the bar is nice and tight .

I towed a large tin tent throughout last summer with no problems, however, reading some of the horror stories regarding knocking from the hitch and, indeed, the possibility of it coming off, you always have that niggling feeling.
IMHO this removes any concerns in that you may have.
