Wing mirror keeps moving

Hi,

I got my Disco 3 in Aug. I bought this one http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic98821.html on the advice of my old boss 'Bodsy'. I've pestered him enough with questions and thought I'd give the forum a try. I've got a strange issue where on occasion when I unlock the truck the driver side wing mirror moves to some random position.

It doesn't require me to go into reverse (which would be understandable) and each time is a different position. Not exactly a life changing fault but f'ing annoying.

Any advice would be welcome.

Craig

Hi, yes it does. I'd understand it if the mirror moved to the same place each time but it moves to some random position

Thanks - reassuring to know it's not just me. I think the auto dip is actually disabled, but I'll give it a try

Interestingly, I managed to make mine work correctly yesterday by meddling for ages whilst waiting for SWMBO who was shopping for our Xmas tree!

My reverse mirrors now work perfectly as does the actual mirror memory against storage number 2 which I use.

I can't give an exact explanation as to how I made it work as I was messing for ages but I do have a small theory - I wonder if the reversing memory is a relative position, rather than an absolute one? That is when you put your D3 into reverse the memory knows to move the mirrors +/- up/down from their current position. The fact that the current position isn't accurate may be the issue and so it is a combination of both normal mirror storage and reversing .

Anyway, I essentially sat and adjusted my mirrors for normal driving, then stored them against slot 2. Then selected slot 1. Then selected slot 2 again and adjusted and stored the mirrors again. Then selected slot 1 again and then selected slot 2 again! This time when I selected slot 2, my mirrors adjusted to the correct driving position (at last!) So, I then adjusted the reversing position AGAIN and hit the store button - lo and behold, they now go to the correct position for both normal driving and reversing.

What I've not tried yet, is selected slot 1 again and then going back to slot 2 and seeing if the mirror settings have been properly stored. I've also not turned lazy entry back on yet but will do once I'm 100% sure the mirror memories are working correctly...

Thanks,

Gareth.

Lazy entry will break it again, I bet... Wink

I have programmed all three memories for me and my position - it's a little better.....

I didn't even get a chance to activate lazy entry and already I think it is losing the settings! The main memory and the reversing settings seem to be creeping out little by little each time I drive the car... Confused

I think there's a permanent fix - that's some new unit as part of the seat memory.

I just press 1 2 or 3 and save the money Wink I have to do this about once a week.

My mirror memory has stopped working entirely now! Both the normal memory and the reverse memory. Going to try another hard reset and failing that, will explore what ecu/controller/memory part may need replacing.

I got my Nanocom Evo this week and surprise, surprise the codes fault codes I can't clear are all related to the body control module, driver & passenger mirrors and seat memory. So think you are right and a replacement BCM might be the fix for all.

Going to try another hard reset to see if I can clear the current faults and then go from there.
