Plunger is already out on new brake switch

I have a new brake switch that I will be fitting as part of my preventative maintenance measures. However, after reading this "How to", I am worried that the plunger on the new one is already "out".

Will this affect my fitting of the new switch?

Don't touch it until some one with a better memory than me comes along, ISTR the plunger should be out and not pressed in, including whilst fitting, it self adjusts when it comes into contact with the peddle.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It sounds fine. When I changed mine the new item was slightly out but it worked just fine.
Fit it and see how you get on. Thumbs Up

Thats how it should be, the first part of the switch is for the CC and then the last bit of movement is for the lights, the pedal when at rest presses the switch in and when you apply the brakes it moves out in the two stages..

Flack Thumbs Up

I need not have worried, the switch fitted fine. Here is what the inside of old one looked like, not as bad as I was expecting.
