Ok waterbuoy,
that make sense to me about the connection scheme.
I'm little confused about the fuse.
I believe(but is just to pretend to) the 80 ams fuse in such a system is to prevent the primary battery(100 A) to short-circuit the secondary(55A) bat….
Otherwise I have no clue.
About the meanie stuff….it was a joke figuring it out!!!!

Seems very pricey - ie approx £300 compared to around £50-60?
As an aside, you will also see from the wiring diagram on the link you gave that the fuse is on the 'downstream' side of the second battery....Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

will this be enough :
2 batteries
cables
BEP VSR 300A in between,
Or still I need the 80 amp fuse?figuring it out!!!!

I'd always put a fuse downstream of the battery, be it in a car or a boat. Far from expensive and can (for example) prevent a total failure which may lead to a fire etc.....Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Yes, and to answer, the + form the main battery is connected the the VSR main battery terminal, the + from the Optima is connected to the Aux batter terminal of the VSR, the VSR has indeed a small earth connection, both batteries are to chassis earth as normal.
The fuse is in the 16mm wire as close to the main battery + as possible, it's the cable you need to protect should the alternator throw too many amps, or the Aux battery demand too many amps due to a short etc Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Just read what Waterbuoy put, yes I agree with below too, always protect whatever you feed from the Aux battery with fuses

The fuse is usually on the output side of the second battery (ie between the battery and the components that it serves). I am not sure which rating you will require, but the winch is likely to be the main determinand in this.
As in my post above, I protect the charge circuit wire too tho ensure the potential for melting wires

Thinking it's not a cheap sys.....
is the VSR system working without rewiring the entire sys?
I mean if the VSR disconnect the main bat to the sec bat while engine is not working,
how do you manage to power the winch and other sys without passing thru the main batt?
Maybe is a dumb question.
And what's the real difference between Traxide D3:
AS dual bat sys(the 2 bat works always together till a certain point)
AU seems AS plus jumpstart ability, use the sec bat as aux bat and a cabin switch to...?
BS seems AU plus extra plug and caravan recharging
Am I correct?
How do i connect my solar battery maintainer(to the main or aux battery)?
tks figuring it out!!!!

HI again
I think you'll find that the VSR is actually the cheapest way of installing an automatic system which will ensure that your engine battery is always 100% full whilst allowing you to use a single charging system for both engine and auxilliary batteries. The only items you will need to buy (other than the second battery and wiring which you have presumably already accounted for) is the VSR itself and a couple of fuses and fuse holders. A 'nice to have' would be an emergency parallel connection and switch to allow you to use the second battery to 'assist' the main battery if required, but as previously stated a jump lead will serve this function as well (albeit nothing like as refined).
is the VSR system working without rewiring the entire sys? You will not need to rewire the whole system, but some wiring work will obviously be needed.
I mean if the VSR disconnect the main bat to the sec bat while engine is not working,
how do you manage to power the winch and other sys without passing thru the main batt? Anything connected directly to the second battery (via a fuse etc) will be able to draw from the second battery regardless of whether or not the engine is running (would you not usually have the engine running whilst winching anyway?). The VSR will only disconnect the two systems once voltages drop below a certain level in order to protect the engine battery.
Don't understand the bit about the Traxide system.
I'd connect the solar charger to the main battery; that way you charge both battery systems at the same time.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

its a very simple option to fit a VSR, searching around great prices are out there, circa £44 for 140 A and £70 for a 200A.
Wiring is as simple as explained to get the system running and charging the second battery, all you then need to do is power your toys form the second battery, so wire you winch, extra lights etc to the second one, not the main Altox GSM FBH controller thread
