Hi everybody, i have been looking at this website for over a year now and it's very informative.
I have just put down a deposit for a disco 4 GS 2010 model,
now the question i am getting a 2 year warranty with the car, is there anything i should be on the look out
for, it has a manual gearbox 88,000 miles, body work is in lovely condition, it has a heavy tow bar
non removable, seems to drive very well what do the forum members think is there anything i should be wary off.
Going on saturday to do the paper work

Yup early D4 was available with manual (and 2.7 not 3.0 lump) for a short while. Not many about though.

yes its a 2.7 diesel land rover they brought out the 2.7 then the 3.0 with auto box as far as i know there is not a 2.7 auto

You'll find plenty of people on here who wouldn't go near the manual gearbox but it's never given me any problems.
I've been told by a LRAssist tech that the D4 2.7 runs slightly different set up to the D3 2.7 but I've never had that confirmed. Mine certainly feels more responsive & faster than a manual D3.
You are correct that the D4 2.7 was only manual, they were apparently mainly for LR's own use but some are now trickling out onto the open market & it was possible to order it directly in the early days, as mine was. As far as I'm aware they were only available in GS spec.
I assume you've checked it over fully? The HD towbar & mileage suggest it might have been used pretty hard in it's short life?
If you want to modify it most D3 items will fit straight on, check my gallery for examples. I've also had cruise control fitted/enabled which works perfectly with the manual box. The most recent addition being another matching alloy wheel so I can get rid of the  space-saver spare, just need to find a GG AT to fit on it. Assuming yours is the same they are 2009 D3 XS wheels.
Overall mine hasn't given me much hassle & none with the gearbox & I love it. It gets used regularly off-road, it's scratched to hell but it's great. I've clocked up 20k miles since I've had it. My Dad is enjoying it while I'm playing in the bush, he usually drives a F2 MY13.

Thanks for your comments funny it comes with a full size wheel the same as the rest i can only
say he must have got it as an extra because he has been doing a lot of motorway miles.
It has heated front screen, sun roof and fixed ones it is called a bright pack, anyway it does seem to drive very well

Heated front screen is standard across the range but other than that you have a very nicely spec'd car, enjoy

| fob key not in car red triangle |

Had my disco4(2010) for about 2 weeks now drives great, i really do love this car, The look,the ride is Fantastic but have noticed the fob key is not recognised when i get into the car and having to put it next to the steering column for it to work and i will post some photos when i get a sunny day Any suggestions
