What MPG???
After 3000km I am averaging over 30MPG on my 07 Manual disco - this is a mix of city and motorway. I had a loan of an 07 Auto and was only getting 22mpg over the same routes.
Even got an indicated 35.2MPG after a 10 mile run on secondary and main roads today!!!
Are they really this good or are the readings on my dash completely wrong 1993 Defender 110 300tdi - many mods

Auto, only 700miles done so far. 1st tank 21.1, second tank 26.2
Taken by measurement of miles at each complete fill rather than the on board comp which shows 23.9 at the moment.Bodsys Brake Bible

i would work it out manualy ..mine tends to read a little more than it actually is.
I have worked mine out , and over the last 12000 miles average 25mpg
I have a manual (06my) about 80 % motorway and the rest round town .
However a recent trip to he lakes saw a return of 19mpg ..so that hasent done wonders for my average!!G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

yer they are 'that good' 8.5k miles on mine, average displayed has hovered around 29mpg, that's with MT/R's, winch, raised air intake, roofrack occasionally, lots of offroading and an enthusiastic blast to Courchevel & back...

I have 07MY Manual with 9k miles. Average fuel seems to have settled at 35.1mpg on the display. Tank-to-tank calculations make it slightly less at around 32~33 ish.
My mileage is probably 70% steady motorway cruising around 65-70 mph(I actually enjoy driving now I've got the D3 so I don't care how long it takes to get there anymore )
It's probably more efficient after that gold plated Fuel Filter change...
Ahem... That wasn't me! Back in the game!

I borrowed a manual S when I took my car to the dealer recently. I had it for the day and was averaging 29. I couldn't believe the difference compared to my auto HSE. I think I'm doing well if I see 22!

Someone talking about me?
I've refilled. I double checked, triple checked, checked again, then tried to stop shaking as I pulled the trigger
I was getting around 22mpg, around town. Then I tried Slimers' trick of not using 6th (or any higher gear) too early. Managed to get it up to 25-26mpg. The engine seems a lot more comortable around the 2000rpm mark than 1200rpm. And that's with the expedition rack on. Cheers Si
