Rolling Eyes not really we were discussing potential causes of the vibrations and pulling being tyres and possible causes of the tyrewear. so its all related. Razz , and I think you will find Im not the only one with this issue. I find the fact that if it is caused by the same issue as the freelander had optimistic one (some diff/transmision type of problem) this would wrap up about 4 or 5 faults in one go... ... Wink

United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Auto Zambezi SilverDiscovery 3

Time for an update - it is weeks since I started this thread!

My D3 was pulling badly, following any slight camber, and was completely wild if it got anywhere near the motorway ruts that the lorries create.

Tyre wear was severe on the both front tyres and uneven on the nearside.

The car was getting noisier too.

Well, I took into to my dealer for a preliminary look and they wanted it back for a full geometry and tracking check. With my requirement for a loan car it couldn't be booked back in until this week, but it has now been seen and this is the outcome:

Tracking was out and Geometry was out. Both have now been fixed and LR kindly replaced the two front tyres even though they were at 12k miles (apparently 15k miles on Pirelli Scorpions is all you can expect!).

So a big thumbs up to my dealer and to LR for getting this fixed and the tyres replaced.

The car now drives like it was new - straight as a die and much quieter. Handling is greatly improved too.

I don't know if it was the tyres or the tracking/geometry problems that were causing all the pulling, noise and poor handling. If it is just the tyres and the Disco is going to behave so badly on low-tread tyres then it is going to prove expensive to keep replacing them!

Regards,
 Si

I'm fairly sure that the 15k limit isn't the life expectancy of the tyres but the point at which LR will pay for their replacement.
FWIW, there is now a new build procedure to counteract the 'bush settle' that causes the wheel geometry to drift, the rework procedure has been changed also.
