Thought I would update with a few pics.
As soon as bought it, I got myself a D4 style grille and got Disco Mikey to de-tango the headlights. I also got some side steps mainly to prevent idiots in car parks hitting my paintwork. It's worked so far. Got quite a nasty mark on the aluminium trim of the side steps from someones door. The side steps were cheap £120 Ebay ones and I had quite a job to fit them. The brackets were poorly welded so they ended up at different heights when fixed on the car. They were so bad that the near side front door wouldn't open. Lots of fitting, removing, heating up and bending the bracket, then refitting ensued (accompanied by a lot of swearing). I didn't want to bend them whist fixed to the car in case it damaged the body. Eventually, I got them to fit and its hard to notice they are not perfect. Another forum member had the same problem with his from the same supplier. Lesson learned there. I should of got slightly more expensive ones for £200. I attached some mud guards at the same time.
The car came with Stormers already fitted, so the next job was to replace the 275/40 tyres which were too low a profile with some 265/50's. The down side to this tyre size is you are limited to choice. They all seem to be very road biased. I'd like a more all round tyre for those days on wet muddy fields with the horse box on tow. They now have the correct rolling radius and fill the arches much better as you can see from the pics below.

I had quite a lot of surface rust, especially at the back around the spare wheel (I wonder if the previous owner had a boat and used it to back the trailer into the sea). This might account for my removable tow bar lock being completely seized.

The spare wheel was in a terrible state too.

I got the wire brush and the drill out and got to work cleaning all the rust off the car and spare wheel. It looked worse than it was on the car and it was really only surface rust. The spare wheel was really badly pitted and took a lot of grinding to remove the rust. I gave it a paint and ordered myself an RLD spare wheel protector. No-one will want to nick a space saver, but I'm on the look out for a cheap single stormer to replace it.

Having seen how these cars can rust underneath, I decided to take preventative measures by getting it Waxoyled. It was quite expensive at £500 +, but I can take it back every year and they will check it out and redo any areas that need it. I was very pleased with the job they did. Really neat.

Land Rover replaced my seized removable tow bar with a fixed one. They also had to replace the rear cross member, so that will require waxoyling later this year.
My steering wheel had gone really smooth and shiny. It was nowhere near as bad as the lumpy problems earlier models suffered from, but having seen Royal Steering Wheels work on other forum members here, I bit the bullet and got myself one with smooth nappa leather top and bottom and perforated sides. So much nicer to hold now.

I think I'm almost there now with all the mods I wanted to do. I'm toying with the idea of getting colour coded mirror covers and door handle covers, but not sure if this is just 'bolting on' for the sake of it. I can't decide if it would be just too much silver on the car. I'm pleased with the looks as it is now.

Non adaptive Xennons are still on the cards when funds allow it. All depends if I can find some at a good price and get Disco Mikey to de-tango for me.
Aluminium cup holder and gear selector surround would be nice, but they are ridiculously expensive, so that's a no go unless a bargain pops up.
I'd really like to do the full D4 front end conversion, but that's a big expense and I've only got basic spannering skills.
I can't decide if I would like to go down the tuning road and upgrade the brakes to V8 ones.
I'd like to get the 4X4 info activated just for the sake of it as I'm too worried about damaging it to go extreme off roading. Also if it's possible I'd like to get the integrated phone working. I've got the Harmon Kardon system and phone switches on the wheel so not too sure on what's involved with that.
Still absolutely love the car and the only thing I would replace it with is a D4. The mods are addictive and I'm always thinking what I could do next. I don't want to end up over doing it an make it look tacky.

Nice write up. If you have the phone switches, how do you know you don't have the BT module ?

I'll look like a right plonker if it is working, but I keep getting the 'phone not connected' message when I try to set it up.
The guy I bought it from said that it had phone connectivity, but he'd never set it up. I took him for his word, but then gave up after a few tries when I tried to set it up. I might go and try again now as I could of made a fool of myself here.
