Does cruise control play a part in this? Is it better to have it on or off? I do remember reading somewhere people saying they get worse MPG with it on!
I suspect that depends on how heavy your right foot is. I find that I tend to get better MPG with it turned on, but then again I am not renowned for being gentle on the louder pedal.
I get about 18-19MPG around town on short trips probably 2-3 miles at a time. and about 21-22MPG on the run to work which is about 15 miles but several roundabouts and traffic lights factored in. when I first got it I got 27MPG back home from sunderland so about 35-40 miles all dual carriageway
CC off for best fuel economy. It puts the gearbox in a different mode. Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

I get 400-440 miles per tank, never more.
HSE tdv6 72000 miles.
I have been calculating since I owned it and average is 25mpg (actual). [obc reads around 27.5]
Is this reasonable? I drove 700 miles recently mostly motorway, did not improve the economy noticably.
I am not sure if my egr's are blanked, I am going to get Geoff to check and do these in a couple of weeks, and I will keep calculating mpg.
Might also give 2 stroke adding to tank a try after that too.2014 D4 HSE Facelift Corris Grey

My manual D3 gets 32MPG popping around the doors and 37 on a run.
I have even had 40 on a run with a light foot.
Its on 64k. Has the oil changed every 6 months, air filter at 12 months and 2 stroke every tank

Hi there Simon
Do you still have your D3?
How many miles do you get from a full tank these days?
(actual miles you get, rather than how many miles it shows on the range display)
Cheers

Been averaging 32 last few days on trips to Manchester then Leeds then Shropshire then London and back.
Using BP Ultimate and range is around 600 miles if you stay below 80 on motorway - with the odd creep above
Use the torque and the gear stick... better fuel, hustles along VERY nicely and also much less stressful too.
Currently range (inc trip) is showing around 640 miles.
Usually get get 530-540 out of standard diesel. Seems extra cost of the Ultimate is far outweighed by extra MPG.

Hi there
How much 2 stroke do you put in a tank?
Have you ever had any running problems with your engine etc?
Cheers

I think that 400 - 440 is quite good
Is anyone else getting more?
Mine is 2005 TDV6 100,000 miles
I have egr's blanked / butterfly removed
I seem to be getting 300-350 on a full tank, but I think my engine needs some attention as it has some occasional times when there is less power than others...

Just returned from Austria (About 2500miles round trip) with 6 up and a roof box and have averaged 25.7mpg (true) - and that was motorway cruising at 70-80 and up and down some little hills. (6000ft being the highest)
I changed the front pads back to genuine from Brembo before we went and it felt like a new car - was leaving several cars for dead on the motorways and up the hills without really trying. Mark.

I had a chance driving to Central London this weekend. Beforehand I fuelled up to the brim 82L + what was in it. Got there, drove around London mad rush hour traffic for 3 days and got back home on one tank 414MILES and I was on/under red.

Mine managed an average of 25mpg. During the mileage I towed a 1 ton trailer for roughly 160miles, and a 1 ton trailer with a 2 ton Disco1 on the back for another 160miles. My trip computer showed I was getting 27 so it wasn't far off.
Mine is a 54 plate manual standard engine map and still with egrs and a 2004 sat nav disc installed.
Geesh I do need to upgrade it.
