Low Power Mode / Aux sockets

Anyone get the "Low Power Mode" message and a picture of a battery come up on the ICE when the engine isn't running or for the first minute or so of running? My hi-fi volume is maxed out at 20 (instead of the usual 35) until this decides to turn itself off. It doesn't seem to be mentioned in the manual.

Also, can any of the Aux sockets be used without the keys in? Is there a way to switch them on? It means that I have to have the key in to charge my Ipod and it owuld be good if the sockets / cigarette lighter worked independently.

Thanks

BTW - bought the Flash car wash - it really does work - and my car's Java so it must be good stuff. The lack of chamoising is a huge bonus. Thouroughy recommended.

Low power mode is low power sound that is why it wont go ovwer 20, greast idea to keep the kids from doing my head in when I am shopping.

As for the aux power sockets mine only work with the ignition on.

Flash wash

The applicator gun I find useless, got my money back, but just use the Flash shampoo does the same job with the same result.

Re: Low Power Mode / Aux sockets

Hopefully someone with some wiring diagrams can figure out a way to jump a couple of wires to make the AUX plugs hot. It sucks they turn off with the vehicle! Charging a phone or Ipod is a necessity!!

I'd be carefull of running things when the engine is off, it doesn't like a drop in voltage.

Low Power warning

Has anyone found a solution to the 'Low Power' warning? I get it when connecting my iPhone 4 to a 2007 Discovery 3 via headphone to Aux plug using this cable:

Is there a different cable that I can use as I don't really want to attach a mini amp?

there is an easy way to make the aux sockets hot all the time.

You remove one of the relays in the fuse box and fit a link wire. Search through the threads, it was one by Wiggs that tells you how to do it.

I get the lower power mode all of the time, even when playing CDs. The battery seems fine when checked - any ideas?

Low Power Mode

Turned out that my problem connecting an iPhone 4 via the Aux socket was due to the iPod settings on the phone rather than with the car or lead. I turned off the Volume Limit which seemed to solve the problem.

Sorry that doesn't help with the CD problem though!

second battery install may be the solution

I installed the Traxide dual battery setup, (shown in my Gallery). This did not eliminate the low power mode but it does allow me to sit in the vehicle and listen to the radio at a reasonable volume with the engine off for a fair length of time.

With the Traxide install, the radio draws from both battery's until the Traxide control bit decides battery voltage is too low and disconnects the aux battery from the main. Your radio will continue to function for awhile until the LR system decides that it must shut the radio down to preserve starting power.

In spite of this, if your kids still manage to kill the main battery, you can still manually jump start from the aux battery.

Also if your system is going into battery saver mode right off and will not allow the radio to function and you have the key set to position II, then I would say your battery is giving up and it is time to purchase a new one before you are walking.
