I’m sure if they put a D4 against the D5, the D5 would be going backwards Rolling with laughter

Why? The D5 has a similar or better engine, the gearbox and transfer case much the same. D5 has latest TR system. On similar tyres, I'd expect the D5 to win.

The additional weight of a D4 might work in its favour. I’d have thought tyres would make a difference in that “test” as well.

The D5 has by far the most superior TR system, so I’d have expected it to win that test, particularly as it was the newer 3.0L.

The improved numberplate position would have helped as well. Whistle

It had the 250bhp motor, not the 300bhp one.

I’m warming to the D5. In 6-8 years time it might be a nice vehicle to have. Thumbs Up

The single turbo motor? The D4 had the better engine then Laughing

The D5 is a nice vehicle in its own right, but I will admit there are a few areas where it falls short against its predecessor.

I still rate the D3 as the best of the bunch. Mines was a base 7 seater which had air suspension and TR as standard, in the days when a new Disco could be had for sub £30k though I bought this at 2 years old for £23k, them were the days. Cairns Blue, the best colour. If she ain’t Blue she won’t do Laughing

Poor photo but the only one I have for some reason.

D3/D4 still more iconic than the D5. But I am gradually warming to the D5. From 0 Kelvin.
