United States 2005 LR3 4.0 V6 Petrol SE Auto Tonga GreenLR3

Installed all three wipers and so far no noise or skipping. Installation was very easy. Time will tell how they handle wear and tear. Very Happy

Spooky - mine also started juddering for the first time today - on the way to Willenhall Rugby Club. Maybe it is a "places begining with W thing".

Time to read through all the good advice and apply some of it, I think.

Juddering wipers

My Discovery has awful juddering wipers and I have just been annoyed by them and done nothing about it. However, tonight I thought I would search DISCO3 to see if anyone else had reported the problem.

Do you think that all the dealers know of this problem? Is it on their database? If I just roll up at my dealer, do you think they might give me new wipers or just tell me to go away?

Ascii.

My rear [wiper, that is] also did this yesterday. It's a Greenie thing. I believe it's something to do with the fact that we've had really warm temperatures for the time of year, ie 14 degrees a few days a go and now down to 0 degrees a few days later. couple this with the debris on the screen/wipers and Voila juddering wipers.
As i said earlier in this post...Vinegar!!!

***TIP****

Wear rubber gloves before washing your car in vinegar! this will prevent the smell from permeating your skin and necessitating large amount of after shave to avoid funny comments in the office, like "who's eating fish n chips etc.......

juddering wipers

I tried the twist in the arm trick the other week on my o/s wiper - far better BUT they still make a noise on the way up. Will a vinager wash help Question When looking at the screen from the side with the wipers on I can see them vibrate on their way up.

After each pass of the wipers I can see runs/streaks for a second, looks like paint has run down the screen if you know what I mean. Maybe the vinegar will help with this as well Question

BTW
Called in Hunters today re new wipers, none in stock and not available from LR untill Feb, wonder why.

I had this also , had them changed by dealer on first service.. all was fine for a few weeks then the problem came back again .. did the rain-x trick for a while Shocked

The Only (and i stress ONLY solution here) is to drop your D3 to access height
lean in from the side grab the wiper arms and bend them back Shocked

This will Work... I tried all of the above and was so Censored off with the problem I resulted to brut force one Saturday morning.

IMO > I think that this is a bit of a design problem with the D3 wiper arms , the angel they have been machined to is to sharp.. causing the wiper to be pushed to tight against the glass... new blades will solve the problem for a while as they are nice and soft and suppel , but once they bed in your back to square one

Damm D3 ........ But I still love you xxxxxxxxxx. Java Black

Mine started to judder yesterday Big Cry

Whilst speaking to my dealer about a painfully loud (intermittent) parking brake I mentioned the wiper blades and they said I would need to buy a new set.

However they said to monitor the park brake squeal and wiper judder for a couple of weeks and get back to them.

I've just had a new windscreen fitted, not been out in the rain so far but will be tomorrow. Then if juddering, is the wipers (will try twisting them or new blades), if not it's the screen ao will use the Sarsons when they start!

What a plan! Shocked

Hold the Front Page!!!!

We were out in that car last night & it was peeing down, no judder at all!!!!!!! QED must be a build up of carp on the screen! Will try the application of fish shop finest to my D3 (new screen was on Mrs DSL's D3) & see if that works

wipers

Will try 'the small bend' next, it does seem a little better this morning in the light rain we had. BTW I used Autoglyms glass cleaner Sunday after washing her, so should have been clean.

D3 recently had new wiper blades fitted (warranty), they seem to have a bit more backbone to them than the original, old drivers side one used to be very noisy at top of screen, now new ones seem to squeak at bottom, particularly passenger side............ you just can't win. Thud Laughing

OK My Sept 06 HSE does the same - I have tried cleaning the screen, but reluctant to use Rain-X as I have found it can cause smeers that are difficult to see through with oncoming lights.
Nearly all new cars get these type of wipers now - My VW Golf Plus has got almost the same blade & it doesnt judder. In the VW dealers they have a treatment that keeps your screen clear - maybe this like Rain -ex - it can be bought (to allow reapplication). I am going to give this a go to try out.

Will report back here
 BREXIT - done properly.
