Fit LR bulbs....

Check the filaments in the lamps - you'll probably find them touching. Quite common in non-LR ones.

Might be worth checking battery voltage and/or alternator.

Similar thing happened to me recently, only suspension didn't lower. Replacement battery, quickly followed by new alternator sorted the problem Big Cry

Per the link below, there is a discussion related to brake light switch and brake light filament problems showing as transmission/HDC problems. It could also be charging system per other posts or gear selector. What I am saying is that the fault will be a minor one, but finding it is not.

i think it depends on the quality of the bulbs in general - i had problems with LR bulbs a few years ago - went through 5 or so in as many weeks. Bought them all from the same dealer so maybe a batch problem

went to halfords and bought a couple of Bosch bulbs and they have been fine ever since - i still have the second Bosch bulb as a spare..

Quality control I would say.

I tend to agree. It appears that most bulbs that I see are manufactured in Yugoslavia, and probably all in the same plant.

I expect that like most factories, they have a quality control machine that sorts the bulbs into various bins. The good bulbs get the quality brand names stamped on then; the bulbs that merely work are wholesaled out and the big box stores stamp their house brand on.

The far east manufactured bulbs are probably made on the machines the Yugoslavian factories threw out with the fall of the Iron Curtain. At any rate, LR requires the tight spec quality stuff.
