So here's a question... I'd like to have selectable on my screen:
1. A wireless camera fitted to a caravan
2. Hitch camera
3. Standard reversing camera
4. TV input from either my iPhone or iPad or DVD player
5. TV output so the source of 4 could be sent to another screen in rear
What out of the above is possible with the gvif? Would be handy when towing to be able to have a permanent rear view from the wireless cam to the screen MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Looks like this could plug in one input and provide the rear view from the rear of the tin tent MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

You can do all that with the Gvif unit functions.
The wireless cameras are not so great and you would need to buy a better quality one or use normal camera and use sender and receiver from front of trailer to the boot area.
Gvif has 3 inputs and 2 outputs plus rear camera input.

Thanks Ian
Stupid question but seeing all these guys installing themselves... how does everyone connect this stuff up? Last time I did anything like this it was in my yoof and generally ended up with trim breaking, liberal use of scotch locks and cheap halfords wire reels
The thought of cutting in to any wires on such a delicate and "live" animal as the D3 scares the pants off me! MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

Dubbs,
see DiscoBizz' manual.
You need to tap into a power source, I took mine from the rear cigarette lighter.
Then you need to connect to an earthing point (at two places) which involves loosening a nut and re-tighten it.
All the rest is tugging off and clicking back into place.
I have all you mention installed except the tv input, all based on a GVIF unit from hids4u.
A schedule for it is in my gallery. If you want to be able to look at a camera image of your choice when looking forward you need to do some extra wiring, a few switches and a diode is required. That is all basic soldering.
SHout if you want some more info.
